4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but Sounds Like a Conspiracy Theory in Places
Jeffery has updated his 1990 book and re-released it. There isn't a whole lot of new information, but it's still good stuff. 5.0 out of 5 stars A Detailed Look at the End Times by Grant Jeffrey, January 2, 2010
This review is from: Armageddon: Appointment with Destiny (Paperback)
I read the original and updated versions of this book, and although there is not a whole lot of "new" information in the latest edition, this is one I recommend, simply because it reads better than the first edition.

The book's premise is that the world is inexorably leading to the final conflict called "Amageddon" (in Israel). Bible Scholar Grant Jeffrey sets the stage for the reader by laying a foundation for his premise, which begins with the Book of Daniel and his prophecy of the 70 weeks. Jeffrey interprets this prophecy to show how God has predicted to the exact day, both the crucifixion of Christ, and using a related prophecy in Jeremiah, the establishment of the nation of Israel (May 15, 1948).

Jeffrey then goes on to document the unique and dramatic events that have occured on Jewish Feast Days (i.e. Passover, Trumpets, Tabernacles, etc.) He uses this information to show how God has specifically orchestrated events to occur on specific days, showing his divine providence. His explanation of how the feasts of Israel specifically relate to the life of Christ is quite enlightening. I learned so much from this chapter alone. He explains how Christ fulfilled the first 4 feasts with his first Advent, and how he will likewise fulfill the last three feasts in his coming second Advent. Each of the feasts represent a "rehearsal" for mankind to worship the Christ and his interactions with mankind.

Another chapter deals with the prophecy of Ezekiel 37-38, and is examined in relation to a future Russian-Arab invasion of Israel, in which the Lord will supernaturally intervene to save the nation of Israel. Jeffrey explains how the third temple and the Ark of the Covenant might be related to the Russian invasion of Israel. He details the "lost" Ark of the Covenant, and where it may reside today.

Finally, in the closing several chapters, Jeffrey examines the many prophecies that predict the events that lead up to the final battle of Armageddon, and the second coming of Christ.

The book is a detailed read. It is not a book one can casually read and absorb. No, rather, this is a detailed Bible study in which one needs one's Bible at hand to examine the actual passages Jeffrey cites. Jeffrey shows how different prophecies link together to give a clearer picture of the Great Tribulation and the events that lead up the Second Coming of Christ and the millenial reign that follows.

Jeffrey's academic credentials are as follows: (taken directly from Wikepedia) "Grant Jeffrey earned a "Chartered Life Underwriter Certification" from the University of Toronto's Extension Program. He later received his Master's Degree and Ph.D., in Biblical Studies, from Louisiana Baptist University. The university holds no secular academic accreditations, though the school has a number of accreditations from groups which accredit Christian schools. He has also done post-doctoral research in Apologetics and Theology, at Oxford University."

While this book represents a rather detailed study of Bible prophecy, it can certainly be understood by the serious beginner as well as the seasosned Bible student. Perhaps one interested in this book would be better served by first reading the following books: Are We Living in the End Times?, The Late Great Planet EarthSeven Signs of the End Times (End Times Answers)

Grant has out-done himself with this re-write. His inside information about the Ark of the Covenant and it's possible return to Israel is amazing. I loved his understanding of the battles of Gog and Magog. This book is a must read for those who hunger to understand God's prophetic word!

5.0 out of 5 stars Revealing Scriptural world events before they unfold., August 25, 2011

This review is from: Armageddon: Appointment with Destiny (Paperback)
Armegeddon: Appointment with Destiny is a great source of information for those that study future Biblical events. I have numerous books written by Grant Jeffries, actually had this book for years, loaned to a friend, never got it back, needed a copy for my research. Grant clearly interprets from Biblical scripture the future events of the world before they unfold. I highly recommend this book, as well as others he has written on the subject. You won't know your future until you open your eyes and your mind, and accept the truth.

3.0 out of 5 stars An Interesting Book with Some Errors, April 13, 2011

The theme of this book, Ezekiel's prophecy of a Russian-Arab attempt to invade and annihilate Israel in the last days, is dealt with in detail. It may come to pass.(Ezekiel 38, 39)
However, much of Jeffrey's prophetic scheme is flawed. First, he follows Robert Anderson's complex and outdated calculations to show that the first 69 weeks of Daniel's 70-week prophecy ended precisely on Palm Sunday of the week of Jesus' crucifixion.By visiting theism.net/anderson.html you can read the historical evidence which shows this just doesn't work out.
Secondly, the prophecy in Daniel clearly states that the Messiah (Anointed One) would be cut off "in the midst of the week," the last 7 years of the 70-year prophecy. There is no way we can construe Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem as being "cut off." As noted above, Jeffrey takes a prophecy from the middle of the 70th week (read it in Daniel 7-9, esp. 9:20-27)and applies it to the last literal day of the first 69 weeks.

Jeffrey confuses the battle in Ezekiel with the Battle of Armageddon."Armageddon" is the seventh of the last seven plagues. It is Christ versus the world, not Arabs versus Jews, and no one remaining on earth survives this battle.
(Revelation 16:17-21; 19:11-21, chapters 20 and 21. Don't let the dramatic interlude in chapters 17 and 18 confuse you.)

There will be no Temple in the Earth made new following the millenium (1000 years).
Rev. 21:22

Who builds the Temple in the dispensationalist scheme, Christ or Anti-christ? Sometimes it seems go be Anti-christ, other times Christ. Jeffrey seems to imply that the Old Testament system of scrifices will be restored in a newly built Temple. The Apostle Paul would have a stroke if dead people knew anything (Ecclesiastes 9:5). Jeffrey says God will set "up an object of worship" in the Temple (presumably the Ark of the Covenant). Yahweh does NOT set up objects of worship. This is setting a trap for Christians to fall into.

I recommend "Armageddon at the Door" by Jon Paulien for a better treatment of the subject.

ARMAGEDDON APPOINTMENT WITH DESTINY is a great, informative, eye opener. Anyone interested in history, Bible prophecy, and the future should read this book. ARMAGEDDON APPOINTMENT WITH DESTINY is a book filled with facts and information everyone should know. Very interesting information on the Jewish calanders, also.

2.0 out of 5 stars Theories of moderate interest, not much else offered., February 25, 2002
By
Grant R. Jeffrey whips out a calculator and the Bible and gives the reader a dizzying amount of verse quotation and fuzzy math to show how biblical prophecy follows Jewish Holy days. His theories are certainly interesting, but the style of writing in the edition I read was stiff and headache inducing (Mr. Jeffrey seems to have matured somewhat as a writer, if the few excerpts I have read from his other books can be taken as good examples). Fans of this style of Bible prophecy investigation will no doubt find something of interest, but others might feel that a square peg is getting brutally hammered into a round hole.

3.0 out of 5 stars year of christ's birth, October 31, 2001
By
wayne (vancouver wa) - See all my reviews
Grant Jeffrey's appendix documents the reasons he believes Christ's birth was in 1 BC rather than 3-4 BC as most scholars believe. I also beleive 1BC BETTER FITS WITH SCRIPTURE, especially the verse in Luke which says Jesus' ministry started when he "was about 30 years of age". As pointed out, this was the first passover of his ministry in 29AD. The phrase "about 30" cannot scripturally or logically be stretched as everyone seems to do. As Luke was an excellent historian as well as inspired by God his account should take precedence over any other historian's comment (such as Josephus).
