Love this cologne, but something seems wrong,

I'm not sure how many other people are having this problem, but I initially purchased this cologne at a department store. I paid the ridiculous 50+ dollars for it, but I loved it. I like this cologne b/c it is not as popular as Code or Di Gio, so you won't find as many other people wearing the same scent as you. Also it smells great. However, when I went to purchase my second bottle, I bought it from Amazon b/c the price was great. When I got it everything was fine and it smelled great, but for some reason it just felt like the cologne wasn't as strong as it should be. It seemed watered down. This could all be in my imagination, but it seemed like the smell faded a lot quicker and i ended applying more and more cologne with each use. It NEVER lasted 24 hours let alone even 12. Amazon is generally very reliable, so I am not sure what to think about it.
