Book Description

Cut & Run Series Book Five - Sequel to Divide & Conquer

Left alone in Baltimore after his unpredictable lover bails, Special Agent Zane Garrett takes his frustration out on everything in his path until he is ordered to Chicago to back up an undercover operative. When he gets there, though, he finds himself face to face with his wayward partner, Special Agent Ty Grady. They have to deal with the uncertainty lingering between them while they work to retrieve their intended mark, a retired hit man and CIA wet-works operative named Julian Cross.

Ty, once a Marine and now an FBI hotshot, has a penchant for being unpredictable, a trait Zane can vouch for. Zane is a man who once lived for his job but has come to realize his heartbreaking past doesn’t have to overshadow his future. They're partners, friends, lovers, and the go-to team for unusual cases. With Cross and his innocuous boyfriend, Cameron Jacobs, in tow, Ty and Zane must navigate the obstacles of a cross-country trek, including TSA pat-downs, blizzards, their uncooperative prisoners, CIA kill teams, a desperate lack of sleep and caffeine, and each other. Ty and Zane are determined to get Julian Cross to DC in one piece, but it’s starting to look like it might be the last thing they do.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great addition to the series May 18, 2012
By Arver
Format:Kindle Edition
Ms. Roux shows her true talents as she embarks on the journey of this series alone. I think this is the best book of the series so far. Ty and Zane are both growing into their relationship and learning to show their feelings to each other without shame, fear or embarrassment. The plot is strong, the side characters are great, and what can I say about Ty and Zane themselves? They're amazing. The addition of Julian Cross and his interactions with Ty brings hilarity in an otherwise emotional and plot heavy book. I loved it. Absolutely loved it and I look forward to the next addition of this series!

5.0 out of 5 stars Did not disappoint May 19, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This book was fantastic. It was a little different, but not in a way that any fan has to worry about. It's different because Ty and Zane have grown into their love for one another. The fear, the hiding --the denial-- they're all gone. Left in their place is something tender and stirring. Still hot, but also very sweet. The awesomeness is only compounded by the crossover of characters from Warrior's Cross. It really took it all to another level.

I should back up.

The story begins just a week after Ty bolted on Zane. He only planned to be gone a short time, but his boss has activated him for an off-book mission to bring informant Julian Cross into custody. An old friend of Ty's boss says he is being framed for a series of hit jobs and only Cross can clear his name. Zane is tapped to join Ty on the mission to find the illusive Irishman and bring him in.

For me Julian stole the show, with his dry wit and bad-assness. Scratch that. I loved Julian, Cameron, Ty AND Zane. They all played off each other's strengths and weaknesses in this spectacular dance. I loved watching Ty and Julian face off. I loved seeing their respect grow for one another. I loved the fact that I had absolutely no idea who the villain was until the last possible moment. I was tense and excited and happy and nervous... all at the same time.

The characters felt as clearly defined as they ever did. No one lost their "voice." The sex was still scorching hot and even with their new level of commitment, Ty and Zane are still... well, Ty and Zane. They are dysfunctional people, but they are growing. They are still learning each other, and trying to get past their issues long enough to make it work. In the process, we are treated to some great backstory that sheds a lot of light on what makes Ty Grady the man he is.

It was so good. Everything I hoped it would be. Now someone needs to tell me what Ty had hidden in that trench coat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bravo Abigail! May 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
The Cut & Run series has been a co-authored book until Madeline Urban left after book 4, Divide & Conquer. Armed & Dangerous was written by Abigail Roux alone. While I wasn't necessary worried about how the series would change, I was definitely curious. The book did read differently but only because this book really focused so much on Ty and Zane and their budding relationship. So much happened and so much was revealed that my head is still spinning!

Ty and Zane started off the series hating each other. Now, in Armed & Dangerous they're finally trying to have a life together and actually trying to establish some communication (which they were sorely lacking). We're reading Ty and Zane as an actual couple now and they see themselves as an actual couple. I would say Armed & Dangerous is the book where their relationship "officially" starts.

They've changed so much from the initial books, but it's only a natural growth as they get more comfortable with their feelings for each other. It's been really rewarding to follow along with them and experience how a relationship progresses. This is book 5 in a series and the whole series has only covered a few years. Because of that we're able to see Ty and Zane grow naturally as opposed to a summarized paragraph glossing over their relationship.

The book summary does a pretty good job of stating the plot so I won't repeat any of that. Attempting not to spoil anything, though, I will say that in Armed & Dangerous we see Ty and Zane reunited really early in the book and their reunion was great. We finally see them enjoying a few happy, relaxed moments before they're called into work to escort Julian and Cameron to DC. What follows is a very long, frustration journey where nothing goes right. Planes are missed, cars are broken down, and...oh, yeah...people are out to kill them. During this time, Ty and Zane are forced to keep their distance after only being reunited a few hours before. This doesn't strain their relationship; instead it forces both men to think about what it would be like if they didn't have to hide anymore.

I'm definitely going to have to reread this one. As I said, there were so many revelations about Ty and his history in the marines, very important details that fans are going to have to remember. Fans have been so curious and all the answers are here. Even Zane, who was normally Urban's character, read fluidly and I didn't notice any change in personally aside from his character growth.

What I loved about this book the most was just Ty and Zane. How they were together, how their confidence in each other and their relationship had grown, how they actually acted like a couple. They both seem perfectly willing to be open together if it wasn't for work. There wasn't a lot of action, but Ty and Zane more than kept my interest. This had humor, drama, angst, and plenty of happy sap. I loved it.

We also see more of Deuce and Nick. I have a feeling their going to be more fleshed out as the series progresses. I'm really glad Nick is a cool guy. I'd hate to have a trouble maker trying to drive a wedge between Ty and Zane.

Fans no longer have to worry about how the direction the series will go. The only criticism I have of the book was the end only because I didn't want it to end!

There's four more books left in the series, at least! I'm definitely looking forward to the next installment and what step Ty and Zane's relationship will take next.

Good job, Abigail!
