2.0 out of 5 stars Had potential but failed
This book had a good storyline to start with but 75% of the book had no interaction between the two main characters. This is a harlequin romance not just a mystery.

This review is from: Armed And Devastating (Harlequin Large Print Intrigue) (Mass Market Paperback)
Book Description: When did plain, mousy personal assistant Brooke Hanford sprout miles of long, smooth, creamy legs? And more important, why did Detective Atticus Kincaid suddenly notice? Their relationship had always been the "good friend" variety. But now Brooke was in his thoughts and under his skin. The fact that she was receiving unwanted male attention in the form of some creep's anonymous psychological terror brought out all of Atticus's protective instincts. Now Brooke found herself virtually surrounded by the badge and broad shoulders of Atticus. Her awkward affection for him erupted into a raw need that she'd never known. But would the fuel of newfound passion ignite a killer's revenge...?

This book has it all: plain-Jane mousey heroine /handsome-desirable hero, long-time friends become so much more, action, suspense, romance, plot involving couple contributing to larger plot involving Kincaid family ... Brooke is mousey but smart and clumsy in an endearing way. She was given depth and her share of insecurities but struggled to deal with them that made you like and respect her; not pity nor become frustrated. Atticus is handsome without conceit, intelligent, thoughtful, an all around perfect hero. The fact that she loved him forever and he had no clue was well done. The initiation of the romance was priceless as was a having a herione who was smart and not beautiful without being a shrew or TSTL with a hero who was a handsome hunk who was smart, compassionate, with being a jerk. I absolutely loved the story of Atticus and Brooke. Though I enjoyed Book 1 and will probably enjoy Book 3 this will probably be my favorite of the series. I suspect that I will like Kansas City Christmas (Harlequin Intrigue Series) Book 4, almost as much as it holds the promise of having another storyline that I'm drawn to and continually looking for while, for me, Armed And Devastating (Harlequin Intrigue Series) is everything that I incessantly look for and enjoy in a story done to perfection.

The Precinct: Brotherhood of the Badge Series include:
Book 1: Protective Instincts (Harlequin Intrigue Series) - Sawyer Kincaid
Book 2: Armed And Devastating (Harlequin Intrigue Series) - Atticus Kincaid
Book 3: Private S.W.A.T. Takeover (Harlequin Intrigue Series) - Holden Kincaid
Book 4: Kansas City Christmas (Harlequin Intrigue Series) - Edward Kincaid

5.0 out of 5 stars Really Good, May 6, 2011
This all I have to say. I am not much for the Intrigue Series, but this one had me from the beginning. Atticus is pretty hot. Brooke is kinda too mousy for my taste, the whole damsel in distress thing gets old, but it works her for some reason.

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved this book, July 30, 2008
I love Julie Miller she is without question one of my fave Harlequin authors I put her right up there with the great Janet Dailey.

This is the second book in a series of the Kincaid brothers I enjoyed this book much more than the first one featuring the brother Sawyer.

I think the reason I enjoyed this more was it focused on Brooke the mousy not so typical love interest in the book it wasn't your beautiful girl and gorgeous guy book and that was what appealed to me she was fascinating watching her come out of her shell her feeling of self worth.

Atticus is a strong wonderful character macho but not in a in your face kind of way and so protective of Brooke just was a lovely read.

I recommend it highly 5 stars can't wait for the other 2 brothers stories the dark Edward or the light hearted Holden bring it on Julie.
