5.0 out of 5 stars Must-Have
Callas sings wonderfully. This is also a great chance to hear 4 Italian tenors in their prime: young Filippeschi, Ziliani, Albanese, and G. Raimondi.

If you love great bel canto singing... If you love historical recordings... Buy it!

2.0 out of 5 stars Good performance...hard to tell as the recording is of poor quality.
The famous Maria Callas performs the title role. The recording is really quite poor even for it's time period.
The double CDs are packaged in cardboard case with a plastic spindle (mine broke when it arrived). Again there is no libretto....a problem given an english translationed libretto is not available anywhere online.

This is an exceptional performance of a rare and difficult to perform opera. Maria Callas is certainly outstanding and the opera itself is truly beautiful. While one can feel that the recording is old it just reinforces its authenticity. It is only to be regretted that this opera is not played more in our theaters and that NO DVD (or video) version of this opera can be found. (I could not find any).
