This review is from: Arming the Fleet: U.S. Navy Ordnance in the Muzzle-Loading Era (Hardcover)
I bought this book as a starting point for detailed research into 19th century cannon production methods. The text is well suited towards a casual reader, but all chapters are thoroughly documented with notes to original sources. The bibliography alone justifies the purchase of this book, as Tucker references a tremendous compendium of 18th-19th century works.
