This watch looks even better when you receive it. I wanted a simple (easily read) digital readout, without too many functions that I will never use. The watch seems quite sturdy and looks a lot more expensive than it is - I have already received compliments on it!

I got this watch recently and can't believe how well it is designed. I own Casio G-Shocks and although this probably isn't quite as durable, it functions well, and has a very clean look to it. This is my first Armitron, but it won't be my last.

The Amitron Men's Chronograph Black Round Dial Digital Sport Watch has been a great addition to my watch collection. This is the third of my Amitron Sports watches and each has served the purpose of allowing me to use it during my work hours. Especially those late nights when there is no other light around, not even the moon. And each has provided me with the convience of keeping time in Hawaii, while I am on the other side of the planet. This watch allows me to look very business like in a rough and rugged kind of way.

I have to have a digital watch. My mind does not jive with analog. I've tried hybrids, but the digital portion is too small to read quickly.

I've looked at over 5000 digital watches, and they were either looking like having an SUV attached to your wrist, just plain ugly, weird over-the-top exotic from an alien planet, or number-crunching nerdy. OK, I admit I am the analytical type, but I do not look it. I have to have something that can look good in either a t-shirt or a dress shirt. I found only two watches that suited my taste: an overpriced Gucci digital at $740.00, or this Armitron Men's 408153BLK. Notably the Gucci is not a sport watch and is dressier than this Armitron sport watch. There's even a Gucci digital with diamonds around the face for around $3,395.00. I gave this watch a try at $18.75, and I'm glad I did, because it looks even better in person than in the pictures. It's clean, and most importantly it does not look cheap. The silver outer trim shines in the light and the watch face is crystal clear. I love this watch.

Went to Cancun with this watch, held up in all pool water, cenote water, salty Caribbean water, also very accurate. Even the alarm worked well.

Got this as a gift for my bro who's about to go on a tropical vacation. He stopped wearing watches a long time ago, around the emergence of small cell phones. But I figured it would be cool for him to have a beater watch so I picked this for him. Now he can go work on his car, hit the gym, do some handy-work, or whatever he wants to do without a second thought for possibly banging it up.

He was skeptical at first when I decided to forego the surprise factor and showed him the enlarged picture above; he thinks pictures aren't always accurate, which is totally true of online shopping. Well, the package arrived and lo' and behold, the watch-face was actually bigger than we had both envisioned and looked/felt very sturdy. I'm impressed at its price and the fact that it comes with several features you'd expect from a higher priced digital sports watch - timer, lap timer, countdown timer, alarm, instalite, 2nd time zone, and day/date. However, I subtract one star because this watch claims to have 2 different alarms but they both sound EXACTLY the same. Also, the instalite doesn't light up the whole screen (just the numbers), making it hard to discern unless you're in pitch black.

On a tangent: Earlier today, I happened to walk through JC Penny from the mall to get to my car and coincidentally saw a near-exact same Armitron watch but more blinged up, pimped-out, whatever you want to call it. The material was completely different - sleek, dark and shiny but the size and features were the same. It was like seeing a renovated version of this watch (same 330 feet waterproofing + sports watch features) except it was priced at around $30 (still a great price). I briefly contemplated returning this watch for that one, but quickly concluded it would make for too fancy of a beater watch. This model is classic and definitely looks more outdoorsy than its JCP counterpart.

-February 2, 2011 UPDATE-

My bro raves this watch has been quickly growing on him everyday. He now loves it! Not only does he say this watch is very comfortable, he sometimes forgets he has it on and even goes to sleep without removing it. I was glad to hear it because I know how selective he can be about comfort. This watch has survived all his underwater adventures in the oceans, pools, and icy cold basins; he showers with it, too. It's a masculine looking watch and looks attractive. He has already gotten compliments; therefore I've added back the fifth star! After getting to know this watch's features and its growing good looks/sturdiness, I realize that docking a star for lack of an alternate alarm tone and weak instalite was harsh. Turns out, you only need to use the light in pitch black anyway and the light won't bother your s/o trying to sleep because it's stealth. (Armitron has made a name for itself in our books!)

Now, the only issue is that there is no silent mode, so when setting alarms and changing time zones, etc., the beeping tone is one loud volume and can't be muted. (Eh, minor beans.)

This is a good looking watch, with all the amenities you could ask for in a mid-range digital "sport watch." It has a large face and large display, which may not be the style everyone is looking for, but it does make it easy to read. (And personally, I think it looks good.)

Sadly, this review is giving only 1 star because this watch did not hold up well to normal use. I purchased this as a gift, as a replacement for someone's ancient (and broken) Timex sports watch. I thought this would be an upgrade, but apparently I thought wrong! 9 months after purchase, the watch started resetting randomly. 10 months after purchase, it stopped working entirely - it stuck at a particular time and wouldn't respond to any of the buttons. It's now trash.

For the price, I would get a cheap, standard Timex instead - they seem to hold up better. (Disappointing!)

This is a good watch for the price. Has a big display which I love and a lot of functions. Shows days of the week, seconds, alarm, stopwatch, hourly chime and back light. Nice big function buttons so you do not have to stick a pen in one hole to set the time or change functions. Durable.

I really like the styling and worked well for a few months until the battery started to die. The watch would reset it self, or shut itself off if it took a shock. Replacing the battery did not help.

Large face, easy to read, comfortable, and durable. This watch fit my criteria perfectly. I highly recommend it.
