I wanted an inexpensive watch for when I went to the beach or pool. In particular one that was comfortable and easy to read. This turned out to be great!

The watch is light weight without looking cheap or like a toy. The mode buttons are easy to press and the display clearly shows the time or any other function I'm using.

Please watch the attached video, ideally at full screen, to see a good demonstration of the size (definitely a man's watch but *not* overly large), very easy to read display , and a nice feature with the comfortable and easily adjusted band.

Please feel free to let Amazon and me know whether this was helpful to you or not, since it helps me improve my reviews.

I'm 60+ so the large digits of this watch make it easy to read. It also has large buttons making it easy to operate. The watch is large, almost 2" across with a Velcro band. The band is comfortable. The band is actually sewn around the band adapters, if you want to put a new band on the watch the original band will have to be cut off. Watch features dual time, 5 daily alarms, hourly time signal, 12/24 hour time, 24 hour countdown timer and 24 hour or greater stopwatch. The stopwatch has a split/lap feature, when you press the split button and go to the next screen you can scroll through and review all the split/lap times. Although the watch is wide it's not heavy and is comfortable to wear on my 6.5" wrist. For the price a great watch. Watch did not come with a manual. I was able to find generic instructions at the Armitron web site.

The face is large and easy to read. I can read and manupulate the watch controls without my reading glasses.

The band is not cheap but is poorly designed. The velcro closer is made so that it catches on anything, like a pant leg, and flies off my body. I will have to replace the band immediately.

I bought the watch only a few days ago so I cannot comment on the durability of the watch.

Pete

I bought this watch for my PT runs for which the watch performs quite readily. The dial is large making the numbers easy to read while running and for night runs the illumination lights the numbers not the background making for quick reads as well. The split time feature is nice because the watch records times and allows you to scroll through them on a dedicated data menu. As far as the look of the watch did not care for it much in pictures, however, was pleasantly surprised with the aesthetics (even wearing it more as a everyday watch) once I received it. The buttons especially are nice they protrude past the dial making for ease of use yet out of the way when not needed in other words, no inadvertent touches. The one fault is with the band or more specifically the band material. Though it is very comfortable and easily adjusted once wet from sweat or pool or if not careful when washing hands it stays wet. I still gave it a five star rating because that is a fault of my own oversight and nothing to do with the watch. It is as advertised. If someone is looking at this watch strictly as a time piece what do you know it performs that function well too.

Today is 20130515. I got this 40/8159 on Jan. 2010. It has always been with me through my army currier. It survived basic training. It survived Afghanistan. It survived every morning PT. It survived all the Field training exercises. It is still most preferred watch for mission. Bold and clear display will give you the time with a glance. 5 different Alarm settings will wake you up and alert you for the next move. Stop watch will help you find your running pace. DATA memory will show you the time you finished each lap of your exercise and help you improve. Timer will count down your 2 minutes for push up & sit up practice. (By the way, the max count down time is 23h59m59s.) Time for another time zone will keep your home town time while you're deployed... And it is tough! I haven't changed a single battery yet and it is still rocking for 3 years straight! I can't ask for more from a watch this affordable.

I will mention one downside I experienced, the strap. It will go through wear and tear eventually but even before that, it will absorb your sweat and stink. You can simply wash it with soap once in a while and dry it well before wearing. I managed to overcome this problem by making my own strap with 550 cord bracing and I love it. It still needs washing once in a while, though.

I recently came across with an issue of other wear and tear. The rubber piece that holds the strap is broke now. I am not complaining that it did not last longer. I already had more than 3 years of pleasure using this watch. I am trying to contact the manufacturer to ask if I can get a pair of these rubber pieces. I would like to continue going on missions with this watch.

ARMITRON! Thank you for this great product. If you are reading this, please contact me! I would like to order parts for this extraordinary product of yours!

I really like this watch. I have about a dozen other digital watches and this is one of my favourites. It is very easy to use and looks good and it is easy to read. My only complaint, and the reason it doesn't get a 5 star rating, is that when you switch to stop watch, the watch should automatically go back to time when you next push the Mode button, like all my other digital watches do. Otherwise it would be perfect. I really like the watch band as it will likely last tons longer than the rubber ones that always break after a year or so. However, the velcro on the band did wreck a couple of nice sport t-shirts that I wore as it snags the material. I would buy it again anyway. Update: I just realized that it was the tab part of the strap, which has the hook part of the hook and loop. I just sanded the edges of the hooks down with a fingernail board and the problem is gone. With this easy fix the strap deserves 4 1/2 stars.

I love this watches large face and over sized sport band. Im a velcro fan, what can I say... I use this watch a lot at the gym, the stop watch and timer features come in handy for workouts. I utilize the timer a lot when cooking too. I tend to beat up watches, not on purpose though, Im a bit clumsy and I play rough, I've had this watch for a year and a half now and It's hanging like champ. The plastic face can take a pretty good beating. The Velcro is getting a bit worn and frayed though. I like this watch and its style so much that I just bought a second one, Now I have my gym watch and my daily user. I hope Arimitron uses this same sportband on future watches.

First off, amazon delivered it in 3 days which is amazing since it was designated to arrive in 5-6. Got the watch and it seems great so far.
-Its got a water resistence well beyond what any human should attempt, an optional alarm + hourly chime, dual time zones (in-case your an double secrete agent and need to know) an awesome light that dosn't stun your eyes in the dark. It actually merely illuminates the back and the digits light up (easier to read).
-Also the time, day & calendar read, stopwatch/ split time mode (havn't tried this yet) and data mode which apparently allows you to track multiple laps/time, and what I essentially bought the watch for a countdown timer. I work out almost every day and wanted something to alert me instead of keeping my eye on the clock so this is a bute!
-Like I said this watch is great especially for the money, it is pretty big so if you have limp wrists stay clear! And as for the gentleman who said that there aren't any instructions DEE-DEE-DEE, they are inside the plastic piece that holds the watch. If you take 5 seconds to look it over it's written on the side "Manuel Within". Other than that I can't say enough about it and amazon's exquisit service!

I really like this watch. The quality is really good for the price, and it's got one of the largest and most legible displays I've seen. I hate small fiddly displays that you have to stare at to figure out what time it is. This watch is large and chunky, but very comfortable to wear. I really like the quick-release velcro band, it's very comfortable, breathes, unlike plastic, and is pretty much waterproof. The plastic is hard and durable, unlike a lot of watches, I have not scratched it yet, after several months. I like it so much I may buy another just in case they stop making them.
