5.0 out of 5 stars French armor in Indochina!, April 26, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Armor in Vietnam, A Pictorial History - Specials series (6033) (Paperback)
This is an excellent and absorbing book on the employment of
armored vehicles in Indochina in both the French and U.S. wars in that region. The color plates of various vehicles are excellent, and, of particular interest are several color plates of French vehicles from the era 1946-1954, including a Stuart light tank. Great stuff, haven't seen it anywhere else. Those interested in the French experience in Indochina will want this book for reference.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brief but Very Interesting, August 27, 2008
"Armor in Vietnam" tells the story of armored combat in Vietnam from the French-Indochina War to the fall of Saigon. This is not a massive volume but does a pretty good job at giving an overview and contains more information than one might think from just glancing at it. The employment of armor by the French, Americans, ARVN, Australians, and the Communist north is discussed as well as some of the important engagements (Dien Bien Phu, Tet, Lam Song 719, Easter Offensive, and the fall of the South). The collection of photographs is quite good and there are also illustrations of some of the vechicles. I suppose I found the story of the French use of armor and the battles of 1972 most interesting. Overall, I recommend this book to anyone wanting a perhaps often overlooked feature of the Vietnam war.
