We used this product to make a bunch of Christmas gifts this year. We etched wine glasses, beer mugs, a large mirror, as well as a few other things. As long as you know what you're doing it is really hard to mess up. We benefited from the fact that we already own a nice vinyl cutter (Graphtec CE-5000) and so the stencil creation was simple. I think some people cut the stencils by hand so results will vary. I applied the cream with a foam brush each time and left it on for about 10 minutes (5 minutes was probably enough though). This stuff goes a long way because after each use you can scoop it back up and put it back in the jar. It worked excellent each time we used it and made at least 15 different gifts.

One thing I'd like to note is that several people gave this product a bad review because it didn't properly remove the coating from their eyeglass lenses? What the heck?!? This product isn't meant for doing that. It's kinda like people who use toothpaste to take the scratches out of dvd's/cd's. Lets go give Colgate a bad rating because it didn't take the scratches out of my disc! Pretty ignorant! Not really fair to the company who makes this stuff either!

This is an amazing product. Though it can get expensive buying a bunch of stencils, especially those press and stick single use etch stencils with the stick adhesive on them that they show in all the videos. I use two inchmasking tape. I cove my glass in that and i draw my work right onto the tape and then cut out what needs to be cut out with an exacto. it doesnt scratch the glass as a lot of people thing it would, and even if it did..the etch cream will be etching right up to it so you'd never notice anyway. but it doesnt....so it saves me a fortune on stencil material and after i rinse off the cream..the wet tape comes right off. Now about the product.. you do have to put a decent amount on to cover the apllied areas so that you cant see through the cream at the glass underneath. it seems the more cream, the deeper it will etch so if the coverage isnt smooth, the etching will look shotty in the light. I reccommend using a brush to quickly cover the whole area as quick as you can so that all areas will start the etching process at about the same time. then go immediately back and fill in any showing areas with extra product. I also do not recommend this for large projects unless you are doing it in very small sections at a time. I found that by the time i got all the cream on..the one side had been on for almost a minute while the side i finished was just starting the etch process. you have to be careful not to leave the cream on much longer than a minute or two or you risk the cream etching its way under your stencil.

The Armour Etch cream is very easy to use. Makes wonderful etchings in glass/mirrors. Directions indicate leaving on for appx. 5 min., but I found if you leave it on longer (20 min) it brings the white color out more.
Received product within time frame that was given.

Recommended for persons who love to do crafts but with novice experience or for anyone who would like to add a little more to the windows, mirrors, or picture frames in their homes....

It's great at what it does, if you apply 2+ coatings
Instead of overpriced stencils, you can use 12" x 20 ft Roll of Matte White Permanent Adhesive-Backed Vinyl for Craft Cutters, Punches and Vinyl Sign Cutters - Vinyl Ease V0401, simply carve out custom stencils with x-acto knife, and use masking tape to transfer design to glass, remove masking tape, and then apply the cream, wait 5-10 mins, wash all the residues off, dry, and apply cream a second time, rinse repeat
3 coats give amazingly uniform etching

I bought this to etch the glasses for my limousine company with the company logo. Worked great! The glasses look like I had them professionally etched. Very happy with this product.

Obviously a product that etches glass should be considered highly caustic. Keep in mind though that it only needs a few seconds on a product to begin eating away at the top layers...this includes your sink and anything in it if you do not keep the water running!

I highly recommend picking up some self stick vinyl to make your stencils, especially with reusable adhesive (usually you can get a dozen or so uses, if you wash and dry properly). These keep the lines of the stencil crisp (while the cream is thick, it can seep/ooze, and if sharp lines are a must for the design, this will quickly become annoying), and the vinyl is flexible enough to allow for etching on rounded glass (such as wine glasses!)

This cream is a great product, and a fantastic alternative to sand blasting.

I bought it to etch glass and it etches glass. You can leave it on for longer time to get a deeper etch or less for a lighter etch.
