Although this bassinet is sometimes billed as a safe alternative to co-sleeping, it's also just a fabulous option for mainstreamers. Breastfeeding is wonderful, but it's also hard work - anything you can do to make it more convenient for mom is a great thing!

I bought this for use with my newborn son. To me, wanting to keep him close at night was very instinctive, but I wanted to ensure a safe way of doing it and a way that would eventually facilitate an easy-ish transition to crib sleeping.

I especially wanted to be able to have easy access to him during the night so that he could nurse. This bassinet makes nighttime nursing as unobtrusive as possible. I hear my son as he wakes up and begins lightly fussing, and can get him out before he can escalate to crying. I grab him, nurse him, and put him back to bed without really waking up at this point (extremely helpful when he decides to nurse nearly every hour because of a growth spurt!). I can easily see if he's making noises in his sleep versus awake and fussing - saves me a trip out of bed. The close proximity also gave me peace of mind in the beginning because I could check his breathing!

We have two dogs who sleep on my husband's side of the bed; the co-sleeper makes me feel like my baby is separate from them and safe (they're great dogs, but I prefer to err on the side of caution).

We use the leg extenders, which do as they say. They do make it slightly less stable, but I feel totally confident that the construction is solid. The wheels on one end are a nice touch.

When setting up the bassinet, be sure to step down hard on all the sides - they're stiff and can easily be mistaken for locked when they're not.

This bassinet does not collapse easily.

We tried so many sleep arrangements the first 3 months and finally desperate bought this. It's great! Our colicky baby had bad reflux which only was exacerbated by rock n play because it was too restricting after six weeks. Pack n play was big for our room and not really sturdy or comfy. Love having attached to bed so easy to reach in or simply to see baby next to me. Keeps close but she gets her own space. Wish we'd bought sooner! I thought co sleeping was too granola but occasionally it's what a baby needs. Wish I'd known thus has a freestanding option too. It's better bed than pnp which really is only good for naps or play. Buy this! I only wish it lasted longer

I give this 3 stars only because the item is NOT what Amazon describes it as. Amazon says the Toffee Dot co-sleeper can be used as a play yard, but this is not the convertible model that can be used as a play yard. Amazon needs to fix that typo. The seller was willing to work with me, although it took 4 co-sleepers to finally get the right one that converts to a play yard. Now that I actually have the right product, I like it (but I do not have the same one pictured here).

My trouble is, the mattress is not flat. When we unfolded it and placed it in the co-sleeper, there were significant valleys near the mattress fold lines, which of course is not acceptable at all for a newborn. The company sells an organic mattress you can add at a cost of $119, but I'm not certain the same issue wouldn't exist despite the extra cost. The size of the mattress is 31.375 x 17.75 inches, so I don't believe there are any other options that will fit properly. We have contacted customer support for suggestions, but will likely be returning this product.

I had one of these with my first child and loved it. I wish I hadn't gotten rid of it. But I bought a new one and it is still a great product. I use it everyday. It is so easy to use. I even cut a little piece of PVC and attached it where the side would hook up and I hang a camera a from it so I can still see baby even though it slides next to the bed. This really is great. It has underneath storage, and for rooms like mine that do not have a lot of room this is perfect.
