Product Description

Color: Natural

The Arm’s Reach Co-Sleeper Bassinet is a unique creation that began with a mother and father’s need for a safe sleeping environment for their baby. They, like many parents, had rediscovered the benefits of co-sleeping with their infants—increased bonding, ease of feeding and a greater sense of closeness—yet were concerned modern beds weren’t appropriate for a baby’s space. They solved this problem by placing the child at the side of the bed, within arm’s reach. Their result is a wonderful series of bassinets that keep babies close to their parents during the important early months of development. Whether you choose to breast feed or bottle feed, the Co-Sleeper Bassinet promotes bonding and enables parents and infant to sleep better. It is also recommended by leading pediatricians and sleep research experts. Reach over and draw your baby close for feeding, or just plain loving. The Arm’s Reach Co-Sleeper family of products come in a wide selection of colors, fabrics and styles to harmonize with the décor of the parent’s bedroom. In order to provide baby with a complete sleep system, Arm’s Reach also offers the Co-Sleeper Beautiful Dreamer Cocoon, a suspended cradle environment much like that of the mother’s womb. It includes a gentle swinging motion to magically soothe your crying baby. Use the Co-Sleeper Cocoon around the house by day and the Co-Sleeper Bassinet by night.

Customer Reviews

It was easy to put together.

I would diffidently recommend this to a twin parent over the Graco Pack 'N Play Playard with Twin Bassinet that we originally tried.

This way I'm still close to the baby while sleeping so I can check on him frequently and it's easier to get in and out of bed.

I contemplated this bassinet for my entire pregnancy, trying to find one on craigslist as we'd already $ many baby items with my first daughter, who had colic. Finally we purchased this and I absolutely love the product. With my first baby I was paranoid, getting up to check on her all night, physically having to sit up and lean over her pack n play since it was taller than our bed. I disturbed my sleep so much -and my baby's! With my second I can't even remember waking up to check on him since I feel like I will know if anything is wrong -he's just 12" away. I can hear him breathing and moving and I love it. I love that he's safe in his own bed and that my husband and I have our own space together, too. My baby is an amazing sleeper. I do believe it's his personality, and I also believe this product helped us to establish healthy sleep habits --no anxiety for mom, no anxiety for baby -- no night wakings for mom to accidentally wake baby!

I must admit that sometimes I do fall asleep nursing (lying down) and having the bed reassures me that if baby were to roll (he doesn't yet) he wouldn't fall off the bed since we have his space. I never nurse facing my husband or putting baby between us for safety. I'm also able to nurse baby at his first cues and even from newborn he didn't need to cry in the night, just cue for food -which has been great for my husband.

I highly recommend this product! It's definitely best for newborns. At best I think we'll only be using the raised bed for a few more months but I can see using it should we have a sick baby/toddler down the road -just to keep them close.

Highly recommended!

Edit baby 6 mo:
To our dismay we are still using the co sleeper!

I bought this product for my newborn twins. It holds them perfect and I love the fact that they are so close at night.

The co-sleeper is great, but the mattress it says it has in it, is nothing more than a pad that you would find at the bottom of a pack and play. We ended up having to buy a separate mattress to go with it. We just felt like the description was misleading.

Ok, I admit, that setting it up could have been easier. It took two of us. However, now that it's in use, I cannot imagine my life without it. I love the fact that it fits so securely to our bed, nothing can get between it and our mattress unless I purposely shove something (like the sheets) in between there. I can easily pick up our baby and soothe her or nurse her. It's also incredibly easy to calm her by reaching my hand over and stroking her little head. I can also sit up in bed, slip a "chuck" between her and the crib sheet, and change her diaper. Believe me, when the pains of having just delivered a baby are still screaming between your legs, having the ability to attend to your baby without getting up constantly - is essential! The co-sleeper looks nice, doesn't need the additional waterproof mattress liner (mattress already is waterproof enough), but it's important to buy extra sheets (not standard crib sheets either). A talented seamstress could sew additional sheets, but they require quite a bit of detail on the underside (velcro, loops, button holes...) to attach to the co-sleeper properly. One sheet does come with the co-sleeper purchase.

Noteworthy: having a high bed isn't a problem with the extension pieces.

We purchased this originally as a co-sleeper bed for our 1 month old and it worked great. We ended up changing plans and putting this as a bassinet in the baby's own room. It works great so far. We had also purchased the Ingenuity Washable Playard but we like this product a lot more since the padding is much better and is lighter to travel with.

SO. Things didn't work out the way I planned and my son was an emergency c-section. We ended up actually co-sleeping (with him on my chest) since it was way too hard to get up and down in my super soft bed. When my muscles finally did feel strong enough, we had the co-sleeper against my side, but using it was NOTHING like I imagined. For one, it isn't exactly level with the bed, so you can't just sit up, reach over, and pick up the baby. You have to get yourself into a position (usually fully facing the sleeper on your knees unless you're super strong) to pick up the baby. Then, when you want to get in and out of the bed yourself, you have to scootch down a few feet to the end of your bed to climb in and out. Super inconvenient. I actually messed up my shoulder and wrist from constantly pushing myself to the end of the bed to climb out. So now we've done some rearranging. The co-sleeper has replaced my nightstand and is at the top of the bed with the long side against the wall. This way I'm still close to the baby while sleeping so I can check on him frequently and it's easier to get in and out of bed.
The side pockets are nice. The mesh around the bottom of the bassinet part are great because I feel safer with him having circulating air (he's also a tummy sleeper... we break all the rules). I look forward to using it as a play pen when he's bigger and graduates to his real crib.
