Awesome crossover. Very tastefully done. What we have here is the clash between 2 legends. The brilliant Dr. Herbert West, whose theories on the nature of death have resulted in some ghoulishly entertaining tales & Ashley J. Williams, the smart alack S-Mart store clerk who reluctantly assumes the role of the "Chosen One" and must deal with the dreaded Necronomicon. The only negative here is that we never really see Ash rumble with Herbert, I won't complain about anything else here, because its all good. The writers did a great job of preserving Ash's personality as well as Dr. West. We get to see a side of West that I've never seen before. I have the original comic book prints and got on here top order the paperback tonight so that my copies won't suffer any more wear and tear. At the moment Amazon is not offering this treasure (it is still in print). Please restock this great gem Amazon!

The Evil Dead series has always been an action/horror filled adventure. This story has Ash against an unexpected foe. Herbert West from H.P. Lovecraft's story Re-animator has never fitted into another stories universe so well like Army of Darkness. This story is an action filled joy ride of epic proportions. Though I do have a few problems with the story. The hole Evil Ash character appears in numerous different forms. "Mad Hatter Ash", "Tattoo Ink Ash" and last and absolutely the least "Caterpillar Ash". Herbert West played a big part in the plot at the stories first and second act but in the book's climax he becomes more of a background image. I will say that despite those flaws the story is great, the art style is great, the plot is great and all the action was great. This book will be loved by all Army of Darness and H.P. Lovecraft fans everywhere.

Like everyone, I'm a huge fan of the film Army of Darkness. I'm also a fan of the film Re-Animator, so this was a must buy for me. This is the third book in the Army of Darkness series, but you don't need the first two books to follow whats going on. The pros of this book starts with the great art work. Do to the cartoonish stile and vibrant colors, the tone of the art (and there for the book) is at a constant state of fun. The action is over the top and never seems to end. Do to the action never ending, this becomes a con. The old saying of "to much of a good thing is bad" holds true. The whole book feels like one long action scene, and after awhile it just get tiring. My other beef with this book is the fact that we never really see Ash vs Herbert West. Instead we get Ash vs Evil Ash (big surprise) then Ash vs Evil Ash with another Evil Ash! (big twist) Just when you think your finally going to see the big show down (you know the title of the book), you get Ash vs Herbert's accomplice, some wizard/warlock guy. What a joke.

Bottom line, pick it up if your collecting the Army of Darkness trades, or if you prefer action over substance.
