Army of Freshmen is an awesome band filled with great guys! I met them when they were on tour with NHOI (equally great guys) and BFS. This CD is amazing, but nothing can replace their live show. Chris Jay has AMAZING energy throughout the set, and I recommend everyone to get to a show. They will be doing some Warped Tour Dates again this year, so make sure you check out www.Armyoffreshmen.com for tour dates!!

The Army Of Freshmen's Debut CD Totally Rocks!!,
By
This review is from: Army of Freshmen (Audio CD)
The Army Of Freshmen's full length debut CD totally rocks! This first official release from Ventura, California's most energetic power pop band is not to be missed! The harmonies and musicianship of these six fabulous guys are absolutely excellent, and the grooves memorable, as are the varied lyrics of this fifteen track effort. It is an upbeat collection of original and unique melodic songs. There's not a single tune on this CD that I don't like. Favorite selections include "Send For You", "Quit That Hellhole" and "I Love Everyone." But then again, as I stated above - I like them all - as you probably will, too, especially if you like rock music that you can actually understand and hear, and lyrics that are positive and mostly inoffensive, yet convey strong and different messages, which is sometimes a rare thing these days! A few special notes concerning this CD; it was produced by Jay Ferguson, a fine soundtrack composer and musician in his own right, and also the former lead vocalist and keyboardist for the groups Spirit and Jo Jo Gunne. Also, The Army Of Freshmen are currently touring around the country on The Extreme Moto Madness Motorcross Tour, for fans that might like to hear the songs from this superb CD live! C'mon and buy it, it's a keeper that you'll enjoy listening to over and over!

This CD has some of the best piano sounds out there today. The music makes you want to get up and move. A very nice distraction from your everyday life.

Army of Freshmen's self titled debut rocks. They are based in Vventura(where I live) and the bass player is my math tutor coincidentially. Their pop/rock formula is fresh and a welcome change to the polluted music scene today. If you like No Doubt or Fountains of Wayne. buy it

The Army of Freshmen is a California band hailing from Ventura County.I periodically check independent charts and found this album to be # 1. So I decided to give them a listen and see what the buzz was about. The first track of the album explodes and at once you are drawn into Chris Jay's raspy vocals that strangly resemble folk singer Phil Cody. His lyrics of teenage love, and angst are sometimes poignant and other times satirical. Poppy guitar riffs and perfect drumming compliment each other as the really gem and defining sound in the band takes the lead - dual synthesizers. The two syntesizer players give the songs a nice dance quality that will make it hard to not get out of your chairs. Roughly summed up, think Blink 182 had a child with They might be giants and raised him/her during the 80's. The bottom line is you will not be dissapointed with this album.

I've seen these guys several times locally, and also on the WARPED TOUR. WARPED is where I realized how special they are. They and The Dropkick Murphys were the only bands that had truly distinctive styles. With synths, overdriven guitar, solid rhythm and an irresistably smart and talented front man, the Army of Freshmen rock, and they do so very muscially. This disc captures their energy and musicianship very well; rare for a studio recording. I wish I could buy it for you; it's that good.

This album is just awesome. The only thing better than listening to it is actually seeing them live. If you enjoy music that makes you want to get up and wave your arms around ... than this is definately for you.

This a great CD. I saw these guys at the warped tour, they were really fun. Their music is a sort of cross between pop-punk, a dash of hardcore, a little pogo, and electric pianos. Awesome, get it.
