This game is a total BLAST!! Shoot some Tan's, lay some mines, squish 'em with your tank, chuck a few gernades, play sevaral differnt terrains, and just have fun. Army Men 3D has great animation. 3.0 out of 5 stars A Decent "Shoot 'Em Up"; but could have been much better
I bought this game thinking it would really be something special. The concept was great; after all, didn't we all play with those little green and tan plastic soldiers as kids? Now, those little guys are still at war and are now fully annimated thatnks to the folks at 3D0. The game start out very strong, with a neat WWII style black and newsreel from the "green...

5.0 out of 5 stars INCREDIBLE, July 4, 2000

Army Men 3D has to be the best game I own. As soon as I bought it I was instantly absessed! It has over 15 missions which are all cool and interesting. Whether its rescueing men or blowing up towers, some times just plain out wiping out armies, its all out fun. fire rifles, mortars, bazookas, or throw grenades. Sometimes when feeling frustrated you can always lay down some explosives! Drive 4 different vehicles including jeeps or tanks!

The only downside to this game is the graphics. they sure aint perfect but they are not as bad as some people would say. You can always easily make out your charachter but some times the tean enemy can camoflauge with the terrain.

This shouldnt be enough to keep you from buying this nearly perfect game!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best two player military game, April 5, 2000
By A Customer
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars

This game is one of the best head to head military games out there. The animated player movement is smooth and the topographic/graphics are good. Weapons available include M-16, M-60, Tank (great for grinding your screaming opponent into pulp), jeep mounted 50 cal., flamethrower, bazooka, mortar, grenades, and landmines. This version is far superior to the later versions. The aiming reticule for the mortar and grenades is smoother and easier to use and the damage inflicted seems more realistic than the later versions. I would like to see a couple of weapons added (posion gas [delivered by artillery], bayonet, garrot, command detonated claymores). The only real complaint about this game is the lack of different scenarios in the head to head mode. It would be nice to see 3DO add some scenarios depicting Urban/Jungle/Mountain warfare to the two player mode. Those complaints aside, this game is one of the best, it allows for some rudimentary strategy and tactial planning, then compells the players to resort to brute force to wear your opponent down.

This game has a one player and a two player option. I like the two player mode best. I will describe it first. There are 5 different battle grounds to fight over and the graphics are great, the format is capture the flag, along the way you will find weapons such as bazooka, mortar, grenades, automatic rife, flamethrower, tanks, .50 caliber machine gun and mines. You will also get men to assign for defence or attack. If you have a buddy at the same skill level the game is so addictive that it's hard to stop playing. The are super sound effects (check out the death scream!) and you can turn off the music to make it more realistic. The one player game is fun and challenging it be sure but nothing like laying an ambush for your co-player in the two player mode. Chase him into a mine field and stand back. The one player mode has several different missions that reqiure different tasks to be completed (such as blowing up a bridge and a radio tower) as well as having to mow down hordes of plastic commies. At this price you cannot go wrong, this is a good game, easy controls and quick load times.

I would have to say this was the best game I've EVER played! It has over 15 awesome missions where you save men or plain out DESTROY evil tan armies! In the game you are the sarge and your country relies on you to get the jobs done! Fire flamethrowers, bazookas, rifles or throw grenades or launch mortars. When the going gets tough you can always blow up a bridge with explosives! The only downside to the game is the graphics are not spectacular. Some time you only see a screen filled with green. But unlike a lot of reviewers will tell you, you can always make out the enemy or yourself! i would recomend this game to a first timer at Army men 3D. itis easy to figure out and a hacke of a lot of fun!

I ordered it as a filler gift to be honest because it was 9.99 at the time. My mother was getting him some army man stuff and so I thought this would go along with that. It ended up being one of his favorite gifts lol... I spent over 100 for an air hockey table and he likes this 10.00 playstation game more.. lol.

I bought this game thinking it would really be something special. The concept was great; after all, didn't we all play with those little green and tan plastic soldiers as kids? Now, those little guys are still at war and are now fully annimated thatnks to the folks at 3D0. The game start out very strong, with a neat WWII style black and newsreel from the "green plastic news." The newsreel decries the Tan nations invasion of the green and vows to repel the Tan agressors. This is really kind of cute and very well done. This, unfortunately, is one of the game's highligths.

The graphics are subpar--not a whole lot of detail and innovation. Also, especially in the desert setting, the Tan soldiers can be difficult to see from a distance. Also, when you kill a tan soldier, his body just disappears from the battlefield...a nice touch of realism would have been a let it stay there so you could have a battlefield full of Tan soldiers. The sound in this game is average at best...again a nice touch of realism would have been to have the various soldiers shouting and screaming to make it more like the chaos of real combat.

Do I like this game? Yeah, I do. Will I buy other titles in the "Army Men" seriers? Yeah, I will. The concept is great. Still, the graphics are nothing special and there's not enough realism in it for me. If you're looking for a realistic WWII first person shooter, spend your hard earned $ wisely on a game like "Medal Of Honor."

The "Army Men" series has a lot of potential, hoppefully future releases will have been graphics are more realism

5.0 out of 5 stars My first army men game., July 9, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Army Men 3D (Video Game)
This is the first army men game i played and it is still really fun. The controls do not take that long to get used to so therefore you dont have to go to boot camp if you have played one of these before but i would still reccomend it. The missions are really fun to do because some can be challenging but some are not that hard but it takes some time to beat so there you have a challenge. After you beat the missions it is very fun to play multiplayer because there are many places to go to and you get to set your guys wherever you want on your territory. They cannot move but they protect your opponent from getting your flag on capture the flag. Thats what the object is to get your opponents flag and bring it back to your base without dying and if you do, the flag goes back to the other base and you start over, whoever brings the flag back first wins. Pretty simple and fun as you dominate your friends and their guards that dont move haha... There are many places to battle at, but of corse they are not very real because it is plastic army men in like rooms with blocks or in backyards. The graphics are good for the ps1 and for plastic army men. I still love to play it and like every other old classic game, it brings back memories....This is an awesome game.

4.0 out of 5 stars Army Men 3D...., August 8, 2003
This review is from: Army Men 3D (Video Game)
I ordered this game just because it was cheap a few days ago. Well when it arrived, i didn't think much of it and just layed it aside to do later. When i finally got around to it, i thought it was horrible. I cursed at the horrible controls, single-stick setup, and simplistic play. Who'd have thought that 10 minutes later i'd be loving it. At first it seems that the duck, roll, and aim features were just slapped on features added becasue every other game has them. But after i died once on the first level i realized how sophisticated this game really is. You have to learn how to use these things. The levels have cover spread out at perfect spots, near enemy soldiers. The typical way of atttack is run up to the cover, duck behind it, roll out, shoot, roll back in. Still, you can put these in any order that you want, or just forget the cover and do fancy rolling to dodge bullets while charging the enemy. But be warned: this game can get HARD! especially on any other setting besides easy. Overall, this game is worth buying. Even if the story is too simple and you dont really understand why you are doing the objectives (why do i have to get to the west end of town??), this is a great game to play in your spare time (its not the kind of game you'll really get into. But its still fun). BUY IT!!
