yawn...,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Army Men Advance (Video Game)
I have to tell ya, I'm a die hard Army Men fan. Army Men: Sarge's Hereos, Army Men: Sarge's Hereos II, and Army Men: Air Combat for N64, Army Men I and II for the PC. I love 'em all. Then along came Army Men Advance. "WOW!", I thought. "A new Army Men game!" I rented this game expecting a good, solid, handheld adventure, but I got a bad, weak, handheld dissapointment. I BEAT THE GAME THE DAY I RENTED IT!!! IT TOOK ME 2 MEASLEY HOURS WHEN YOU GET TO RENT THE GAME FOR 5 WHOLE DAYS!!! FOR THE NEXT 4 DAYS AND 22 HOURS, I HAD TO TRY NOT TO LOSE THE THING (and i'm very good at misplacing things...it's a gift, i guess...)!!! There is, however, a challenge to the game. Oh. Wait a minute. I was wrong. There is no challenge. There's about 14 levels in the game, yet it took me 2 hours to breeze through them all. I'd rather watch molasses move on a cold day. Whatever you do though, DO NOT be drawn in by the only good thing about this game. The graphics. The graphics were pretty good, but they don't hold a chance against games like THPS 2 (then again, no handheld game could so what would make this one so special?). I liked the cartoonish animation of the environment and the soldiers, but that was it. I expected more from this game, but instead, it just left me dry...

Army Mens pretty cool!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Army Men Advance (Video Game)
Now you either love or hate this game (most people hate it) but I love it! See the graphics are not 'advanced' but they are clean and appealing 5 stars. The gameplay is sometimes repetitive but it's still plenty of fun throwing grenades and stuff and the missions are simple but nice 4 stars. The sound is pretty good but some parts sound like a game boy could use them with no trouble! 3 stars. The controls are almost as if the game boy advance was designed for this one game! 5 stars. Lastability, now somebody wrote in a review "I beat this game in 20 minutes" (somebodys telling tales) which is basically impossible without cheats because even if it's really easy it'll take you to long to walk to the end after doing objectives with 12 missions. You will finish it fairly easily if your use to these games but if your not...;). 4 stars. Replay Value, is very good in this you just wanna come back for more! 5 stars.

3 and a half actually...,

This game is pretty cool. It's not very hard and it's pretty repetitive, but it's also very fun. Younger kids will have a blast with it, but older gamers such as myself will soon look for other avenues of challenge. Buy Castlevania, Mario, Tony Hawk, and Rayman first, then think about this one.

Cartoony goodness,
By Glowis (Van Nuys CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Army Men Advance (Video Game)
Many people mistake the cartoonish graphics for bad graphics, but they arn't really bad, there just cartoony, and that's exactly what 3DO was going for.Now for the review of everything else: The controls are quite simple. you (of coures) use the arow control pad to go up down side to side. The A button to shoot (you can also get a machine gun that has 99 bullets that you can continueuselly shoot by holding down the A button) and the B button to throw grenades, shoot a bazooka, and a flame thrower. There is some times big vehicles that you can shoot down, and they will give you items such as a health pack, or a weapon or two. There are objectives to complets throughout the game. Such as blowing up all the vehicles, getting keys or getting into buildings, just to name a few. my only complaint, is that each level has a code, and to get into your current level, you have to enter a code, and unfortuanatelly, after I beat the game, I lost all the codes that I had written down. There is no music, but thats no big deal for this game. Sincerelly: Glowis

They could,

They could make this a really cool game if they wanted to. If they made like worldwar 2 instead of some made up adventure. Still it will keep you busy for about a week until you get tired of it.

Just Like Pauly Shore, We're In the Army NOW!,

At first sight, this game may dissapoint a few. But as gameplay resumes, the disapointment fades and satisfaction occurs. The graphics are wonderful, and the gameplay is good as well. The negetive part about this game is the patience that is required. It seams very hard at first, but as you get it down, it becomes more fun and very enjoyable. Army Men are at it again, showing kids that war is not something to be afraid of, it's a right that us, US citizens should thoroughly enjoy.

This game is just bad,
By A Customer
This review is from: Army Men Advance (Video Game)
I liked some Armymen Games but this is just as bad as Sarges Hero's 1. The horrible looking charactars and bad looking stages. But the horrible combat system doesn't help either.
