5.0 out of 5 stars good blastin' fun
This game is cool. One bad plastic soldier, four big weapons (each one with SIX levels of upgrade, each one more devastating than the last!), one sweet smart-bomb attack, great explosions, great intro movie, and constant mayhem...!

At first I had trouble with it because I was trying to shoot everything and hit them before I die.d Then I realized that you gotta dodge...

This game is cool. One bad plastic soldier, four big weapons (each one with SIX levels of upgrade, each one more devastating than the last!), one sweet smart-bomb attack, great explosions, great intro movie, and constant mayhem...!

At first I had trouble with it because I was trying to shoot everything and hit them before I die.d Then I realized that you gotta dodge first and shoot while you do. It's like the old arcade games of the '70s like Robotron and Contra... just guys swarming at you constantly, and you're layin' down the lead...

oh yeah, the other thing is you MUST pick up the same powerups in sequence to upgrade your weapon. If you keep switching weapons you never upgrade. upgrading is key and if you get all the way to max upgrade, your guy morphs into an even bigger, badder guy who takes less damage from enemy fire.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprise! - It's good, March 23, 2001

This review is from: Army Men: Green Rogue (Video Game)
I was hesitant buying Green Rogue, but there are few arcade style shooters available (especially for the PS2). Army Men game in the past have been just "fair"- (in my opinion). Green Rogue it truly addicting. If you're looking for a deep strategy game, pass this one up. There's no complex mission here, just pick up and play. The concept is simple, shoot the "evil" tan troops (they are plastic, there's no blood in site) while marching through various types of terrain. Nice effects and a good dash of humor. I honestly haven't completed all 16 missions, but I'm determined to do so ;=)

I like it but im hard to disapoit, yet I say thare are some bad things about it like you can't stop moving him,it is a good thing that you can do a 2 player campain and the same rules apply with the 1 player as in not moving, the aiming is hard to use because you can only use the right analog stick and you can not move the camara, because you can not move him you can not kill the other enemys that you might miss,if you have looked at images online you can see that you can morf but not till you beat the game. All and all my brother and I find it a vary fun game but I recomend Sarge's Heroe's 2.P.S if you do get it make sure you have a frend to play with and make sure you and your fred have upgraded your guns.

Despite the bad reviews I decided to buy the game and see for myself. I don't understand why there are such bad reviews. This an excellent game. Quite challenging at first but when you get the hang of it. It's awesome. I recommend it !!!

I have played the Army Men games before and I have always felt that they were between mediocre and good. The control is always a bit slipery but the gameplay is simple and fun. Plus the novelty of playing as little green army men is clever and fun. But after playing through a couple of levels of Green Rogue, I was astounded. How could something that is this bad be allowed to be released.
Let me start with the most obvious flaw and that is that the game constantly pushes you along. You have no control over the speed of your movement, you have to always run no matter what you have missed. Sometimes a health or a weapon pick-up will appear with no chance of ever getting picked up. It is almost like the game scoffs at you as it scrolls and pushes you past objectives not yet completed.
Another big dissapointmet is the weapons. All of the wepaons must be upgraded to be effective at all and 2 or 3 aren't effective in the least. This is due to the terribly jerky control on the aiming feature. You can never really tell where you are aiming and since the game is constantly pushing you into enemy gunfire you do not have a whole lot of chance to find your aim. The game requires the use of both analog sticks (one for movement and one for aiming) and one would think that this would mean that the control was tight but that is not the case.
Add to that a bunch of dull landscapes, a constant requirement to follow a specific track, and tons of eventless moments strung together and you have got the game that is Green Rogue.
Any one who I have talked to about it has just laughed about how bad it is. To me the feeling is just disbelief. Don't people have to play these games before they are released to the general public? Don't they have any sense? Well I guess Green Rogue is my answer.

1.0 out of 5 stars This spelled doom for 3DO, May 14, 2005
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Army Men: Green Rogue (Video Game)
I have always wondered why 3D0 folded. Now I know why. This has got to be the single worst Army Men game ever conceived and perhaps the worst 3D0 game period. It is obvious the team spent most of their time making eloborate cut-scenes - some of the best in the Army Men series - and spent no time on the game itself.

For those of you who are old enough to remember...this game is a little like the original Rambo game for Commodore 64 - and the graphics aren't much better. Perhaps 3DO sought to cater to the fond memories some of us have of sore Atari hands and two bit music but they have missed the mark. This game is simply terrible.

Forget the mobility of the other Army Men games. This game won't let you sidestep, crawl, duck, or roll. You are simply a barely recognizable green humanoid who can do nothing other than run - and even that is limited - no more exploring the landscape around you - you are locked in like Han Solo in a tractor beam.

I have played all of the Army Men games for PS1 and PS2 - this one is not even worth the box it came in. The Green Army would do well to put this one back in the bucket of molten plastic and think of something better....

1.0 out of 5 stars The Game of the Year, November 17, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Army Men: Green Rogue (Video Game)
Whoever created this game needs to be dealt with immediately by being put through some training. I wish I had their job so I could of at least put a little thought into this. My 2 year old son could of made a better game than this. Or maybe it was a 2 year old kid that created it. Besides all this it was an allright game to rent but wouldn't buy it. The idea was cool but the controls and getting forced to walk forward was a bit annoying. The weapons upgrading was cool but some weapons would fire too slowly when they were fully upgraded.

Worse game I have played in my life. Rent this before you pay good money.(Don't even rent it ,its that bad) You will hate it. It is simply awful. I wasted money on it and can't wait to find someone stupid enough to sell my copy too.

Save your cash , and buy a boardgame the graphics, and controls will be much better.
