5.0 out of 5 stars The classic "Survival Manual" for the 21st Century April 26, 2013
Format:App|Verified Purchase
I'm an Air Force Veteran, and I remember when I first found the old booklet in a military surplus store. The only thing missing from the electronic version is the odd smell from the pages ;)

4.0 out of 5 stars GOOD RESOURCE June 3, 2013

A little more primitive that I wanted, but certainly valuable. It is written from the perspective of someone behind enemy lines.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get the battery free edition as well. November 21, 2014
By LincNeb
Format:App|Verified Purchase
Why is it a fun read? You can find out all the plants you might eat that will kill you! and what ones won't. This looks like the same manual I bought as a teenager, and I still wonder what I did with it. I have no attention of ever going camping, but it might be a very handy guide for a survivalist, and as I said it was just very informative. So, it's a fun read sitting in front of your fireplace or in front of your air-conditioner depending on what the season is.

Is it worthwhile on a tablet or phone? Actually not. When your electronic device runs out of juice, how are you going to know how to set up your solar still? --But-- I would suppose you still can get this from the U.S. Govt. Printing Office --Or-- the last time I checked, Amazon was selling the paper edition. If you got the android version at the right price --which I did-- you can make up your mind if you want to get the paper version, really the only practical way, if you plan to be staying in the wild for any period of time. It was one of the better reads that the Army or Govt. printing office put out.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the best book on the shelf. November 30, 2013

This is not the most detailed manual I have seen, and it leaves several important points unaddressed. Good thing it's free.

5.0 out of 5 stars True Survival and Emergency Prepardeness April 7, 2014
By Joelito
Format:App|Verified Purchase
One of the most in-depth and comprehensive survival manuals that I have researched to date. Many of the top Survival instructors currently teaching seminars and courses on these subjects make direct reference to the manuals techniques and guidance.
