"Besides being very useful for modelers the book has a great deal of information for the armchair historian on the weapons, uniforms, and equipment of the American forces in World War II. " -Rodger Cole, Historicus Forma (December 2004)

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good and complete, in just 144 pages, January 10, 2002
This review is from: The US Army in World War II (General Military) (Paperback)
Wanna know something about the US Army in the 2nd World War? Then look no further if time is critical. Like many of Osprey's products, this amalgamation of the three Men-at-Arms titles is a godsend to the modeler and wargamer and carries the day with Osprey's susccinct and no-fluff style! Bravo!

3.0 out of 5 stars Guide to the uniforms and equipment of the US Army in the Pacific, Mediterranean and North West Europe., November 20, 2005

This review is from: The US Army in World War II (General Military) (Paperback)
This is the Bind-Up of three tittles dedicated to the uniforms and equipment of the US Army in the Pacific, Mediterranean and North West Europe.(Part of the Osprey Men-at-Arms series, numbers, 342, 347, 350) each parts includes a campaign summary, organisation, combat uniforms, equipment, weapons and a divisional campaign service and shoulder patches.

There is a total of 24 color plates of uniforms by military illustrator Mike Chappell with many rare photographs, the text by Mark R. Henry contains a wealth of information of many not so know units, like the Nisei(100Bn) with 1500 strong, was formed mainly from Hawaiian National Guardsmen of Japanese-American descent, the African-American troops, the women's army auxiliary corps(WAAC)and medical services. For the famous Airborne and Rangers units little space has been devoted and for the Air force you would have to look in other titles.

This is a good introducction guide for both modellers and others interested in history, in some parts the text is very brief but the Author tries to give us a detailed information about the Army's structure, I found interesting the notes on the equioment of Armored, Mechanised Cavalry and tank destroyer units well-researched, comprehensive, not the definete guide but highly readable introduction for the novice.
