3.0 out of 5 stars A good intro to the Lightning Arnis System, April 18, 2000
This review is from: Arnis: Filipino art of self defense
At 112 pgs the book starts with a brief history of Arnis and Grandmaster Lema and covers

Stances and Calisthenics Blocks and Strikes Dos Manos (Double Stick Techniques and Drills) Espada Y Daga Techniques Free Sparring Techniques Empty hands vs. Stick strikes Disarms, Single Stick vs. Double Sticks A follow up section where after a the above mentioned disarm is successful, a follow up disarm to the l. hand stick is executed.

Blade defense Section Defense against knife to throat w/ opponent behind defender Defense against knife at side w/ opponent to the side. Empty hands against knife

Stick vs. Espada Y Daga Stick vs. Dagger Dagger vs. Dagger Section on chest locking throw (Hands vs. Stick) Single stick vs. 2 attackers, each w/ a single stick Thumb pressing Disarm Neck Locks

Pictures of Escrima Tournaments Arnis Article Rules for Arnis Tournaments

I liked the book's sections on blade defense and special situations such as multiple opponents, good food for thought. On one particular blade disarm is a follow up section on an opponent who tries to attack the defender though he is pinned and on his back. Overall the system emphasizes stick hits and disarms equally.
