Product Description

Our Kamagong Arnis, also known as the Ironwood, is made from the highest quality Kamagong wood in the market. Our team is made up of biologists that select only the highest quality wood. They insure that the wood is properly dried and prepared for cutting. Then our master craftsman, in the Philippines, cleanly cuts the Kamagong wood to 28-inches long to industry standard size. He has been crafting Arnis for nearly 20 years. He treats every Arnis with respect - like a master craftsman of the Japanese Samurai Sword. Each pair is carefully cut according to the growth of the tree. It is sanded, polished and ready for display or for years rigorous training. For us, making Arnis is a science and an art.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Value!, September 25, 2010

They are about 3-5 times heavier than the sticks I bought from my instructor for $30. These will not sting the opponent when swung hard, they will break what they hit. I am excited to build up strength and be able to use them fluidly. I wish i wouldn't have bought the other set from the instructor and waited for these to ship. Carrying case is a cool bonus. I will probably keep these in my car or by my bed for personal protection. I would feel very comfortable fighting someone with a knife, bat, mace, ... but not a gun.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, March 8, 2010
This review is from: Escrima Arnis Kamagong Pair of Sticks also known as Ironwood includes Carrying Case with adjustable strap (Misc.)
These things are pretty awesome. By far the most unique sticks in the dojo--they're extremely heavy and nearly solid black (as opposed to the rattan, waxwood, and lesser sticks used by my classmates), and make a satisfyingly deep and resonating clunk. They didn't cost an arm and a leg, either. I only have two complaints: the sticks are about 3/4" too long for the bag, and the velcro only closes because the blue edging adheres to velcro; they are very smooth, and I have to be very conscious of my sweat or else the stick may go flying. I get a lot of attention because of these, and it's such an ego boost for a guy to have so many people admiring his stick.

Also, before you buy check the dimensions. At 28", they'll be longer than most eskrima sticks. They're also much heavier, and have to be wielded by someone with good control and the physical strength to stop them if the opponent misses a block. So I wouldn't recommend these for smaller or inexperienced students.

I was so excited when I got this and took it to Escrima class. Upon performing a roof block, one stick broke in half! Great for solo practice, but bot for sparring
