This recording features the Grimthorpe Colliery Band, a first-rate brass ensemble from Great Britain. I think that the combination of British music with British musicians makes a stellar interpretation and an unmatched performance. The players are outstanding individually (many fine solos) and collectively (playing many difficult passages together). The tone qualities of the ensemble are wonderful! This CD is a perennial favorite, and it always makes the listener smile!
