Not that bad!,

I've had one of these plows on my Yard Man Autodrive 17 HP tractor since 2000. I've worked its buns off and now need another one. Yeah, if you wait until you have 10" of heavy wet snow on the ground, you better get out the two-stage 4 stroke snow blower! But if you have a reasonable approach to it, this little blade will handle it. Take it from a guy who plows several times a week and lives in the high Colorado Mountains. You just can't expect it to be as powerful as a pickup truck with an 8 foot plow, chains, 4WD, etc. It's not that bad and sure has saved my back for the past seven seasons. You've got to have the wheel weights and chains! That's an absolute MUST! Also, try using the angle setting when plowing heaver snow. That way the snow will fly to one side or the other. M & D Mower has this plow for $365 plus shipping.

Yep! Parts Were Missing!,

I bought this snowplow because I had one like it many years back. That old one pushed a lot of snow! I sold my old tractor and blade. I decided to get another one for my newer garden tractor. I read the reviews and noticed a few people said that their plows arrived short some parts. I bet against the odds and figured it wouldn't happen to me. Yep! Sure enough, mine was short parts, too! The parts bag was intact with no tears or openings. I was missing the blade return spring, a handle bolt & hitch pin, and a number of other hitch pins. I had to go to the hardware store and pick the parts up there. Right now, I have purchased about $15.00 worth of necessary parts! How hard can it be to count out a small list of parts correctly?

I would not have expected this item to work well for fear of the tractor being to weak or the plow to flimsy or the snow too heavy, etc..., except that my neighbor owns one and I used it last winter with great success. I have used mine 4 times now, and actually enjoy plowing my driveway (and I do some of the neighbors'drives and our sidewalks). My driveway is approx 100 feet long, so it was a daunting task to shovel it in previous years. I initially started looking for a snow thrower, but was turned off by many bad reviews online. (not to mention, this is 1/2 the cost of a small gas snow thrower) My tractor does not struggle at all to push moderate levels of snow. I use it with the blade to the side, and sweep the snow to the side, rather than push it straight. This seems to work incredibly well. I can literally plow my driveway perfectly clean in under 10 minutes. Try that with a snow blower (or shovel)!
The item shipped fast. I had it Christmas week, within 3-4 days of ordering. It is built very well. All parts seem to be of very high quality. I was missing a part, as some have mentioned in reviews I've read. The parts are not sealed in a plastic bag, and some fell out and were loose in the box. I was missing a bolt and washer, which I replaced easily enough. Luckily all hardware is standard nuts and bolts, etc... which I had on hand, but any hardware store would also carry. One tip that should be in the directions: Apply a small amount of hand soap to the rubber handle to help it slide over the metal pole that operates the plow lift mechanism. I tried many methods to get it to slide on until I thought of this. I would heartily recommend this product to anyone. It is rare for me to be pleased with a product for it's durability and quality, but that is the case with this plow. The blade and mounting parts seem to be incredibly simple, and solidly made. Don't forget tire chains. I found great pricing and service at tirechains.com Get the "2 link spacing" for better traction. They are only slightly more expense than the 4-link version but work incredibly well. don't forget the springs to hold the chains tight for abhout $10.

Snowed in,

I was very disappointed in this item. After looking at my local Lowe's for this item (they didn't have it though they would gladly order me one for over $500!!!) No thanks, I could get a two-stage snowblower for that. Anyway, my dozer blade arrived via Fedex 3 weeks after I ordered it. The day it arrived, we received 8 inches of snow. I was anxious to install and get busy clearing the driveway. The box arrived in decent shape. I opened the box and did a quick inventory of the parts before getting to work. I was very disappointed to find that most of the hardware was missing. I had to drive back to Lowe's in the snow and spend about $11 buying hardware so I could install the blade. Then, I found out that the seller packed two right-side frame brackets. I needed a left-side bracket and a right-side bracket. I figured out a workaround. Later, I found another poor design issue that I couldn't overcome with a workaround. I will be calling the manufacturer's customer support line tomorrow because I was unable to use the blade tonight on my driveway. In hindsight, I should have bought a snow blower.

This review is from: Arnold OEM-190-833 Fast Attach 46-Inch Snow Blade (Lawn & Patio)
We were concerned that this blade might be thin metal and unable to plow the dirt we needed it for since most sites were calling it a snow plow. Unable to find anything better that would fit our Cadet, we took a chance. It works just fine. We are not moving big piles of dirt, just topsoil to level out the lawn. We're also using it to push dirt back into the hole in which we placed a storm shelter. We have had to add WD40 a few times; also have to stop and rinse the dirt off the mechanism. It's a slight pain in the neck, but to get the work done, we can live with it. The arm operating the blade does get tired too, so if you have arthritis you might not be happy with that part. Moving the blade also required leaning forward quite a bit so expect your back to get plenty tired. It would be nice if the blade handle were longer, but it is evident that one couldn't get onto the Cadet if that were the case. Too bad the blade isn't operable automatically. Like many other people, we were missing a hardware piece. Since my husband keeps everything "just in case", he had a part in the garage, so we didn't have to go purchase one. Overall, we'd buy it again.

Snow Plow Blade for Lawn Tractor,
This review is from: Arnold OEM-190-833 Fast Attach 46-Inch Snow Blade (Lawn & Patio)
The product was well packaged and shipped promptly. However, the item had to be returned because it would not fit my 700 series lawn tractor. The web site stated it would fit all tractors while the box stated it would not fit 700 series machines, which it did not. The item was returned at Amazon's expense and their refund of my money was prompt. Overall, a smooth transaction.

Got this blade for my Yard Machines 638RL. The accessories placard on the mower calls for a blade of part number OEM-190-833. I checked on the MTD website and verified that this is the correct part number I needed for my mower. I discovered that the frame of my mower did not have the correct holes to fit this blade. I had to drill a 1/2" hole on each side of my mower to properly hold the blade. This was not that hard to do but it was not something I was expecting to do since the manufacturer claims this blade will fit my mower. There were three problems I encountered that decreased the rating I gave this blade. 1. The adapter for the blade when installed on the mower is very close to the ground and will will scrape when driving over the curb onto my driveway in forward but not in reverse. 2. To uninstall the adapter from my mower I must take off the engine cowling. 3. Also, as others have indicated, my kit too was missing two nuts and bolts. The box was in bad shape and had a large patch on it. The small parts package had holes worn it it and parts were scattered about the box. These are minor issues to me. But it might not be for someone without the necessary skills to correctly install this blade. That is why I gave only 3 stars. This is the third blade I've used on small lawn mowers over the years. The others were on an MTD and a Craftsman. Those blades, though similar, mounted differently. None required any drilling to mount successfully. They worked well for snow removal and are still in use. This blade is of heavy construction and I am pretty sure it will clear my driveway of snow. The blade angle adjustment is easy to use. The blade lift handle is an easy reach for me for a seated position.

We bought this attachment for our lawn tractor. After the 3 hour installation complete with missing bolts, we attempted to plow our driveway in the first major snow storm of the year. Well, just like the review above...we should have bought a snow blower! The tractor is just not powerful enough to push all the snow. The tires, even with the wheel weights and snow chains kept on slipping & sliding. We ended up having a brick wall of packed snow at the end of our driveway, that we had to shovel anyway. We will be returning this and sticking to lawn mowing with our tractor! Dissapointing!!

Got the plow within the time scheduled for delivery. I was concerned when I opened the box and the small parts bag was opened-small parts scattered everywhere. However, all parts were present. Took about 20 min and I was plowing snow. Aleady had weights and chains installed (a must). Will not plow packed down ice but does great on fresh snow, I was pushing 8-10" with minimal problems. Very satisfied with purchase. Tip-If you can wait, don't start plowing until the snow starts to melt(drips down the gutters or off ledges). This is the time to strike for the best results with the least effort. Also, if possible push show to the side instead of straight ahead.

This is a good plow for light snow. Easy to attach and remove. Can't wait for the first snow. I have only used it to clear a section of my yard and it handled it well.
