I love this type of music but sometimes get a bit of "ear-fatigue" from hearing the same things over and over again.
The music from Hamlet is what hooked me here. Love it! Very Scottish!

Wonderful Music from a virtually unknown composer!, June 10, 2009
This review is from: Arnold: Overtures, Op. 8; Incidental Music to Macbeth (Audio CD)
I just picked this CD up on a whim. I wondered who on earth was Samuel Arnold 1740-1802. London composer, did a lot of theatre music, quite popular. The back of the CD case said: "world premiere recording contains all of Arnold's surviving orchestral music." Hmmm . . . that might be interesting.
It was indeed. Delightful theatre music, very inventive and varied. This is really well constructed music, never boring. The 23 listed members of the Toronto Chamber Orchestra under Kevin Mallon play very well, with a kind of rhythmic lilt, and the sound quality is excellent. Highly recommended.
