Arnold Schwarzenegger Comedy Favorites Collection (Twins / Kindergarten Cop / Junior)

Our copy of the Arnold Comedy Collection arrived in the mail on Monday. Everyone was excited to see the movies. I haven't seen Twins in a long time. Junior was as I remember it. I only saw it once when it came out. The reason we bought the set was to have Kindergarten Cop in the wide screen format. We have the individual copy which is in full screen. And, that was fine, back in the olden days, before the advent of wide screen TVs.

This isn't a review of the movies. I like all the movies, and I'm glad to have two that I didn't have before. This is an observation about the formatting of the Kindergarten Cop movie. The DVD claims that it's in 1:85, wide screen format. But, is it?

My daughter was watching Kindergarten Cop this afternoon and she asked me, "Is this really wide screen? It seems kind of cramped." I looked at it, and she was right. It fills up the wide screen, but it's like the full screen with the zoom turned on. We popped in the old disk and, sure enough, the Universal folks have pulled a fast one! This isn't a transfer of the original, wide screen movie. This is a crop of the full screen cropped edition to fit a wide screen TV!

I don't have any other versions of the other 2 movies, so I don't have a basis for comparison on those. But, if you're purchasing this set in order to get a wide screen version of Kindergarten Cop, this isn't it. Altogether, there is about 30% less picture in this movie than the full screen edition, taken from the top and bottom of the screen.

Perhaps one day, when the movie is released in Blu-Ray, they'll actually make a print of the original, wide screen movie. I tell you what, though... before I buy it, I'm going to rent it to make sure that it's not just an expensive, high definition copy of the cropped edition of the full screen version.

As I said before... I'm glad to have Twins and Junior. I didn't own a copy of them. I don't know if Universal pulled a fast one on those. But, they certainly did with Kindergarten Cop, so I don't guess I would put it past them on the others.

Just be aware that, even though this Kindergarten Cop says it's a wide screen version (and even though it will fill up your wide screen TV), it's really not. You're getting less picture overall than you'd get with the full screen.

This is a excellent collection of Arnold's Comedy pictures , The two best ones are Twins and Kindergarten Cop . Junior was funny it made me sqarm as a guy though, women may like it more. Arnold had guts to play that role.

Every picture is nicely restored though Twins had some dirt and Scratches still left but not enough to take away the enjoyment of watching it. Thank You Universal For making available a Widescreen Version this picture instead of that goofy pan and scan version that's been out for years, it was nice to see it in it's true format again. i hadn't seen it like that since i went to the theaters to see it, years ago. what great film.

the Disc with Twins and Kindergarten Cop is Double Sided and Junior is a Single Disc. All the Movies Have Trailers with them , Junior comes with a special too.

I loved Twins and Kindergarten Cop was pretty fun as well...and until now only available on horrible Pan and Scan DVD. For around $15...this is a pretty good deal and two of the three movies are pretty good and TWINS is terrific! Widescreen ...finally!

I am a huge Arnold Schwarzenegger movie fan. I own almost all of his movies. Without being Arnold biased, this is a great movie collection. Very good, funny stories. I highly recommend. Classic!

I was very happy to receive my collection of movies. I love all three of these movies. The product came quickly and was very well wrapped.

Even though I rather prefer single film DVD editions, I could go with this one since the studios have finally released these great titles in widescreen and the package with an extra box is just great. The order arrived in record time and in mint condition. All films are now widesreen 1,85:1 and a great fun to watch. There are no extras or documentaries and that's why I give it 4 stars.

These movies are funny & I liked them when I watched them...I got this dvd set for my nephew. I recommend these movies to folks.

Twins and Kindergarten Cop are classics. No matter how many times I watch either one of this I still smile and laugh during the movie. Junior is a decent movie.

This DVD collection features Arnold Schwarzenegger in three comedies:

- Twins
- Kindergarten Cop
- Junior

Previously I had seen Twins and Kindergarten Cop. Junior was a new one. No guns!

Arnold Schwarzenegger, as everyone on this planet knows, is one of the kings of the action thriller: Predator, Terminator, Last Action Hero, and so on. There are usually lots of guns, bug guns, and explosions. "Body count" is the theme here.

So his comedic side is a different side. In Kindergarten Cop, he sets his police persona aside to go undercover as a... kindergarten teacher. He's stiff in this role, but that's kind of the point of the plot. In Twins, he becomes acquainted with his lost twin, played by Danny DeVito. He's the angel to DeVito's devil. It has its funny and dramatic parts. But I really liked Junior, and both DeVito and Schwarzenegger made this work by keeping in character throughout. They didn't ever try to be funny, and thus became funny.

Anyway, the point of this review is to mention that you get three DVDs for this low price. How can you lose? Expect the basics, get the basics, and enjoy the show.

Great things:
+ Interesting and entertaining
+ Good restoration (not great but good)
+ Whole family can enjoy these funny movies
+ Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzeneger are a great team
+ Three movie nights at one low price!

Other notes:
+ DVDs were a little bit damaged, so the shipping could be handled better
+ Picture looks a little squished on the screen, but not too noticable

I love these movies because they make me laugh and enjoy myself after I come home from work and just want to relax. Fun movies for entire family. DeVito and Schwarzeneger make a great team with their sketches and situations filled with humor and sarcasm.
