Product Description

Color: Stainless

The Aroma Gourmet 6-Cup Digital Electric Kettle features advanced digital settings to heat water to exactly the temperature that's needed. 4 specifically chosen temperature settings provide the perfect heat for favorite teas and other hot beverages. The Aroma Gourmet Digital Kettle also features a Keep-Warm setting that will maintain the temperature for up to 20 minutes- perfect for serving. Water temperature is easy to monitor as the IntelliTemp display provides real-time temperature readings and Spectrum Illumination provides an easy-to-see colored light change representing each temperature level. Once water reaches the ideal temperature, the kettle lifts off its base for cordless 360-degree pouring. The beautiful brushed stainless steel finish looks great in any kitchen. When the serving is done, the cord conveniently stores in the base for easy storage.

I have tried a few kettles, and this is by far the best. It is very impressive,

The water gauge is fantastic.
The units are in cups (not fluid ounces/liters) which is much more meaningful for making drinks.
It also changes colors based on water temp. Green, light blue, dark blue, purple, red. It also has the inbetween colors as they mix together. The image does not show green though, and it would seem more logical or me if it went blue to red.

The handle is a great quality, sturdy, not a slippery plastic, no horible rough edges, and it stays solid when you squeeze it. The buttons are nice individual buttons with a firm click to them.

You can press the power switch followed by quick boil to heat straight to boiling point. Upon boil, the power turns off (and it doesn't wait too long either which is good), the light turns out, and it bleeps to alert you it has finished.

Alternatively, you can press power followed by the keep warm button, which lets you toggle through different temperatures. When it reaches that temperature it will hold it for 20 minutes. Its a pity you cant select a temperature and then have it go off without holding, but you can always turn it off yourself by re-hitting power.

Whenever the kettle is on its base, it tells you the temperature of the water on the LED. So you can see it heating up and cooling down, but the gauge light only illuminates whilst heating.

This kettle does not alter the taste of the water, heats faster than other 2000w kettles, and has a convenient to remove filter,

If I had to improve this kettle, I would
1) Let the user toggle between Celsius and Fahrenheit. To me, boiling point is 100 Celsius not 212 Fahrenheit.

Many have written their tales of woe, as this little kettle died on them after some random interval.

I thought I had bucked the trend; I treated it gently at all times, never slamming it down on the base, never getting the outside wet, all the reasonable precautions. It worked flawlessly for one year and four and a half months. A few days ago, after my morning coffee ritual (Small aeropress brew of hand-ground beans, water just off the boil, top up to full for an Americano), I set the kettle on the base, and....nothing. Just...nothing. No familiar beep. No lights. Nothing. No other sounds, smells, or smoke either. Nothing. Thinking maybe it wasn't seated right, or whatever, unplugged base, lifted and set down the kettle many times, and...nothing. So very strange. And out of warranty.

I ordered a new one from amazon which arrived in just one day, and I'm back to my morning ritual, familiar beeps and colors.

I'm handy with a screwdriver and electrical things, so I opened up the base to have a look. All the wires neatly in place, the circuit board intact, no discoloration, everything looking just pristine and dandy, no scorched appearances or acrid smells. However, the fact is that the main circuit board is mounted right there against the underside of the pot, and the heating element is a big ring around the inside circumference of the base. No matter how well shielded things may be, it's going to heat up in there, and eventually the integrated circuits will rebel. I suspect the silicon substrate deep within the plastic shell of the main IC probably cracked from being heated and cooled countless times. In short - the main circuit board really belongs in the handle as two or three smaller circuit boards, completely away from the heat source.

Used this kettle 3 times without any problems. It heated the water as promised and changed the color according to temperature, which was fun to look at. However, I could only make it work 3 times and never even got to test the different temperature features. Very dissapointed! Even if it would have worked, I wasn't too excited about the full platic liner for the water level and color indicator. I prefer stainless steel only to avoid any potential issues with plastic leaching. Maybe I got a lemon, but to stop working after just 3 times makes me very uneasy to buy from this company ever again.

I've only had this a couple of days, but so far I am happy with this.

I gazed longingly at the kettles that come in various designer colors, but in the end, I chose this one with digital temperature control as being more family-friendly. I make tea for myself and my 10 year old. (She likes the Celestial Seasonings herb teas.) I can start the pot out on one of the medium temperatures (175 or 185), pour out her cup, then put it back on to boil for mine. It's all quick and easy.

The controls are simple, and the opening on top is wide if I need to get at the interior for cleaning some day. (I'm assuming there will be some scaling eventually.) The LED's are kind of cute, but the temperature display is actually more useful.

When you lift the kettle off to pour, it automatically shuts off. If you want to keep the remaining water warm, you have to re-press the keep-warm button when you put the pot back on the base.

Also, to clarify on the features: the capacity is 1.5 liters. It's listed as 7-cup on the website right now, but the box when it arrives says it's 6-cup. It's plenty big for me.
