5.0 out of 5 stars Simplicity at it's finest!, May 20, 1999
By A Customer
I own quite a few aromatherapy books and have been practicing aromatherapy for quite a few years. Unlike the other books I own (which go over individual properties of a lot of oils I have never seen and give difficult blends, etc.) this book goes over 12 of the most useful oils, one for every month, with a especially for you oil for every month too. It gives great blends for the months (i.e. insect sprays for the summer months, moisturizers for the cold months) and they are easy to follow, easy to make, and great to use! This is the best aromatherapy book I own and would highly recommend it to anyone...a beginner or a expert!

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended, January 5, 2000
By A Customer
I love the way this book focuses on just 12 essential oils. As a newcomer to aromatherapy, I would like to start with just a few oils and add more as I learn more. This book has been a big help in deciding which oils are the most versatile, and are therefore the best ones to buy when only buying a few. Having hundreds of recipes that only use these 12 oils is also a big help. The book is beautifully written with a fair amount of humor. I don't know about you, but I can always use a little extra humor in my day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for Beginners and Useful Long Afterwards, January 11, 2001

Paula and Judi have compiled an incredible introduction for someone new to aromatherapy. The book is so easy to follow and read, and the blends are so easy to make and use. In addition, the blends in this book are timeless. You won't outgrow this book. What I liked the best about the blends is you see results immediately. To top it off, it's one of the most beautiful books I've seen. Great on the coffeetable, a great conversation piece, and forever in use. Keep it handy!

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this book!, April 4, 2002
By
I have purchased a number of aromatherapy books over the past year or so and taken out about every one my local library holds. This book far exceeds them all for practical, accesible knowledge. They make it fun and start you out with oils that most people can afford. Some of the books I have list recipes, supposedly for beginners, that use 10 drops of rose absolute, jasmine and the more expensive or unusual oils. That's all well and good, but for someone just getting into aromatherapy, they aren't likely to spend... $$$ for a 1/4 oz. bottle of rose EO.

This book is easy to understand, the recipes are easy to make and easy to enjoy and the information provided is good. They start out with oils that are affordable and easily found, but also present special oils each month, like jasmine, frankinsence, and rose, that one can "move up to".

The only thing I wish they had made more clear or stressed more was about applying oils neat. Some of the recipes aren't clear about that and for someone who is just starting, they may not realize that there aren't a lot of oils that you want to use neat due to their strength.

Anyway, great book! I love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful and beautifully written guide for everyone., May 13, 1999
Judith Fitzsimmons' gorgeous book Seasons of Aromatherapy is perfect for folks new to aromatherapy and those that are more experienced. Her book is crammed full of easy to make essential oil recipes for everything from a cold to sunburn. It is sprinkled with inspiring quotes and wise sayings to brighten any day. As the founder and creator of HotFlash! the perimenopause/menopause web site, I have found aromatherapy a magical way to make life a little brighter. Aromatherapy is a soothing way to relax. Many of my online support group members have a huge interest in aromatherapy as an effective calming therapy. After meeting Judi at a televeison station where both of us were doing an appearance, I could easily feel her enthusiasm and excitement. Now is the season for this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this book!, May 13, 1999

Aromatherapy has long been an attractive mystery to me. I received Season's of Aromatherapy as a gift recently. The beautiful graphics and easy to read layout of the book drew me in, but the information contained within and the lilting writing style kept me from being able to put it down. I could not wait to get my first collection of essential oils and experiment for myself. Now that I have read, and re-read the book, I have marked my favorite suggestions, and continue to refer to this wonderful book. The formulas recommended by Paula and Judi have proven to be viable alternatives to other more traditional remedies in my home and with my young children. The applications seem to be limitless!

I would recommend this book (and have!) to anyone starting or building an aromatherapy library.

5.0 out of 5 stars The only Aromatherapy book I will ever need!!!, February 14, 1999
By A Customer
I love my new Season's of Aromatherapy book. When my one year old daughter got a diaper rash that Balmex and Desitin would not heal, I turned to my "Season's" book for advice. Within two days the diaper rash was gone. Thanks Judi!!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Aromatherapy Through the Seasons: Restorative Recipes and Sensory Suggestions (Paperback)
I first checked out the hardback version of this book from our local library. I found it by browsing the stacks in the call number for aromatherapy. It caught my eye with the word "seasons." I fell head over heels in love! I renewed it as many times as possible while my daughter and I had fun mixing up various recipes from the book. Her favorite is "Sweet Dreams," which she used every night for a month this past summer.

When I could no longer renew the book, I looked it up online and purchased this paperback version in "very good" used condition through Amazon. I had a challenging time finding either version and wonder if it is out of print. I got it for a decent price finally and counted the days until it arrived. Quick shipping and in the condition described. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

For more in-depth reviews (including descriptions of the content), check out the hardback version of the book. The cover has a different picture and the name is slightly different. Same authors and same content...everything between the covers is identical.

I have three other Aromatherapy books (all different authors). My first is a general overview with nice pictures and charts (Penny Rich) and includes information on different ways to apply EOs. My second purchase was an A-Z reference manual (Patricia Davis), which focuses on using EOs in massage therapy and describes a lot of EOs. My third is specific to children (Valerie Worwood). I like all three of these books for different reasons and I refer to them often.

What I like so much about this book is that it has a completely different tone and approach from my other books. It is a practical usage book... akin to a cookbook! I like simple recipes for therapeutic purposes and this book delivers in a unique and FUN way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful and Informative book, August 16, 2008
By

(REAL NAME)
Friends and authors Judy Fitzsimmons and Paul Bousquet have succeed in bringing aromatherapy to life. Written in practical, informative, and fun chapters this book is easy to read and learn from. In addition to the history of the oils and traditional uses, they have provided very easy and practical recipes.

The recipes use the basic oils covered in the book. For the beginner (or home aromatherapist) is this great! I have always been frustrated by aromatherapy books that give recipes and then you need 100 different oils to make them! I don't want shelves of oils I only need for one or two recipes. And, I don't always know what will work as a substitution. This is not the case here. Seasons is written with practicality in mind. The authors really want you to experience and enjoy true aromatherapy! Their love of aromatherapy comes through the words.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great start, November 5, 2007
By
Green Cat (Payette ID USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Aromatherapy Through the Seasons: Restorative Recipes and Sensory Suggestions (Paperback)
This is a great book to use to get oriented to using essential oils because the authors have selected a short list of basic oils, 12 in number, that are a good balance of stimulating, relaxing, "breathe easy", skin and hair enhancing, and cleansing oils and they are reasonably priced, except for the chamomile. They also offer a short list of 12 oils that one might want to try next. They suggest a variety of ways to apply and use the essential oils and all of them are easy to apply. I have given this book to several people, along with small amounts of the oils, because it is a fine introduction and avoids the confusing mass of options that might discourage a beginner.
