5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic view of Aroostook County, August 26, 2011

This review is from: Aroostook County 1920s (DVD)
The first time I saw this silent movie was in middle school. I remember that we were all bussed over to the Aroostook Centre Cinemas to watch it (there were special viewing times for K-12 classes and it might have also been available to the public). I remember there was a pianist who played for us during the movie, but I don't remember his name or if he is the same one as on the DVD. Since then, I always wanted to get this movie ... I never forgot the scenes of downtown Presque Isle and the farmers picking potatoes in their suits! When I saw this movie was available on Amazon, I ordered it immediately. I watched it as soon as it arrived at my house. It's as wonderful as I remembered it! I ended up buying a copy for my brother for his birthday since he also remembered the movie and wanted to see it again. This is a great gift for anyone who loves history and is a native of Aroostook County and especially Presque Isle!

This review is from: Aroostook County 1920s (DVD)
The background music for this DVD,was played by my father Danny Patt(Daniel E. Patt,12 May 1912 - 24 Dec.,1998.) He started playing piano at the age of 6.At age 12 he was hired to play for Silent Movie showings at the Town Hall in Union,Maine. He went on to play, piano,Novachord, solo box, organ, and accordian. He worked for Lowell Thomas, the famous News Commentator in the 30's,and played for President Roosevelt. The film is about the Aroostook county area,in the 20's.It's a series of silent film clips centered mainly around Presque Isle,Maine. The film was put together by,"Northeast Historic Film",Bucksport,Maine, under the Direction of David Weiss.I owe him my deepest gratitude for saving something that means so much to me,and my family.
