4.0 out of 5 stars Great Pattern SourceBut
The first book in this series is a favorite source of patterns, and so is this one, but....

Instead of listing the measurements of common blocks, like a 2-5/8 " square it will say T1 or some such and you have to look in the back to figure out what size this is. I hate templates! It was a much better format in the first book.

My neighbor had purchased the first book in the series called, Once Around the Block, so I thought I would get the second book. I had read a review stating that the third book would not be for beginners, since I am a fairly new quilter, I thought the second book would be okay. However, I missed the fact that the majority of the blocks require templates! I hate templates. They are so time consuming compared to just rotary cutting everything. The templates I have used aren't even standard measurements on a quilter's ruler either so strip cutting doesn't work--less than a eighth inch increments.

The blocks are more unique than in the first book but I would not make a large quilt using these blocks!

5.0 out of 5 stars More wonderful block ideas, March 2, 2001

This review is from: Around the Block Again: More Rotary-Cut Block from Judy Hopkins (That Patchwork Place) (Paperback)
Judy Hopkins once again provides quilters with a wonderful selection of blocks, including from easy to the very unique. Combining traditional blocks with rotary cutting techniques. I liked the variety, the basic instructions, as well as the color and black/white illustrations of each block. The advice on "Planning Your Quilt" though brief, is informative. I think beginner as well as advanced quilters will enjoy this book. However, beginning quilters will need other references to finish their quilts.

5.0 out of 5 stars So you'd like to make a quilt but can't decide on a pattern?, February 1, 2003

This review is from: Around the Block Again: More Rotary-Cut Block from Judy Hopkins (That Patchwork Place) (Paperback)
This book offers quick rotary cut block patterns that will inspire you. All blocks are offered in several size options and diagrams explain how to construct the bolcks quickly and easily. A good investment, you will find yourself reaching for this book time and again. My advise is don't loan it as it will probably not come back!

5.0 out of 5 stars Around the Block Again : More Rotary-Cut Blocks from Judy Ho, June 10, 2001
This review is from: Around the Block Again: More Rotary-Cut Block from Judy Hopkins (That Patchwork Place) (Paperback)
As a beginning quilter I love this book! I use the templetes all the time and have no problems figuring out how to finish or use the blocks I make. I love the different sizes for the blocks as well. My only problem as a beginner is making my blocks come out at exactly the size they are supposed to. I'll keep working at it! :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars BRILLIANT BOOK!!!!, December 8, 2010

This review is from: Around the Block Again: More Rotary-Cut Block from Judy Hopkins (That Patchwork Place) (Paperback)
Hi i brought this book before seeing any reviews then after i saw some that had been written and was worried id be dissapointed when it arrived .the reviews werent very good for it at all but to be honest i do not know why this is? as its an absolutely brilliant book!! so many blocks to choose from and it gives you all measurements of fabric needed for each block you do wether your doing a small block or a large 1 i couldnt do without it. alot of reviews say you have to use templates mostly which you dont as i hardly use any and it is for rotary cutting as thats the way i do it it is actually for rotary cutting . i have not been patchworking for long i only staryed in september and even though some in the book i darent try yet there are still quite a few i am doing and im getting more and more confident to move onto the more complicated blocks so all in all i give this a 5* rating just like all her other books thankyou so much for reading my review i hope this helps you :0)

1.0 out of 5 stars Templates, Yuck!, February 16, 2008
This review is from: Around the Block Again: More Rotary-Cut Block from Judy Hopkins (That Patchwork Place) (Paperback)
I own all three of these books in the series but I never, never use this one. It requires that you use templates for almost ALL patterns. I surely would not have bought this book if I had known.

4.0 out of 5 stars Have used this book dozens of times, and have yet to make a template!, February 11, 2008

I am afraid that template shy people will stay away from this book, and that would be a shame....The "T-3" etc. references when building the blocks can be measured out and cut with rotary cutter, as they are all straight edged peices such as squares and rectangles...What I find invaluable is the fact that each block has several different sizes to choose from...My guilds are constantly making raffle or sampler quilts that require certain size blocks, such as 8,9 or 12 inch finished....instead of thumbing thru dozens upon dozens of magazines, I pull one of these books out and choose from there. My favorite block is "Federal Square" found on page 60....I do it in seven diferent colors and twice so far, that block has been placed as the center or focal block of two sampler quilts.....Its a great investment!

I have not been very happy and haven't used this book much as almost all the blocks need a template and I am not that experienced yet and hate having to make one or more templates for each block.
