A movie you can really relate to even if you've never been to New York City. If you haven't - this movie will certainly make you want to go It's one of the more realistic representations of life for 20-something-year-old dreamers in New York (the people who make it what it is). You'll be able to identify with the feelings of excitement, disappointment, ambition, sacrifice, and truth in this compelling, thoughtful, beautifully filmed story. It's a love story about a city, about two people, friends, and about hope. If you have been to New York City - the plot and scenes will be all the more real to you. Definitely worth watching and it will be more than memorable.

This movie is about someone you know. Everyone knows someone like Doyle Sims, a likeable wisecracking charmer who just can't learn to rely on anyone else. This movie invites you to know a little more about a person like him, the things that drive him, the people who help shape him, the city that he loves. This movie, to me, is like slipping into comfort. I find myself relaxing, waiting, holding my breath to see what his next move is, and even laughing out loud. It seems so much like telling stories over dinner with an old friend, a good glass of wine, a worn pair of jeans, or just coming home.

"Around" is a film of self-fulfilling prophecy, of lost communication, of losing and finding love, and in the process, losing and finding yourself.

Too often, we take on the pain of those we love most, mirror the hurt of those we need the most, those we try to hold onto, those we try to hide from, those we try to find and to fix, those we eventually struggle to free ourselves from. "Around" envelops us, takes us into a world of cold brick, steel and glass, of shattered relationships. A place where the reflection that stares back is distorted in shame and blame, shivering in the cold, ready to break-- and then comes the realization that is not our reflection, that it was never about us at all.

Sometimes we are so busy looking around, that we don't see what is right in front of us, nor do we realize what we have until it's gone. Sometimes we never know the difference, nor can we change, until we have the courage to come back to the point where it all began.

In so many movies where people move to NY to "make it", they stumble into the right job, find the significant other they never knew they wanted and make their dreams come true. This is not one of those films. This film is going to show the struggles and the little moments that make that struggle worth it.
