Pull up a chair to Martina's table for good food and great company all year long

Martina McBride enjoys entertaining millions of fans on the road as one of country music's most beloved singers. But when she's not on tour, she turns that energy to hosting intimate groups of friends and family at home. In Around the Table, Martina shares her most inventive party ideas for all seasons. Complete with mouthwatering recipes and decor inspiration, this beautifully illustrated collection of culinary celebrations includes practical menu-planning advice and tips and tricks for the host.

Martina takes readers into her home to join in the fun, whether it's at a Red, White, and Blue Backyard Cookout, a Retro Valentine's Day Supper Club, or a night of Mistletoe and Martinis. Chock-full of personal anecdotes and memories, this delightful keepsake is infused with Martina's girl-next-door spirit and irresistible charm.

About the Author

Martina McBride, a Kansas native who made her debut on the charts in 1992, has earned a string of hits across twelve albums, including "Blessed," "Independence Day," "A Broken Wing," "Wild Angels," "Concrete Angel," and "I'm Gonna Love You Through It." To date she has a tie for the most Country Music Association Female Vocalist of the Year Awards with four wins, has been named Academy of Country Music Top Female Vocalist three times, and has been nominated for fourteen Grammy Awards. She lives in Nashville, Tennessee, with her husband and three daughters.

Katherine Cobbs left her job at National Geographic for culinary school on the West Coast in order to combine her love of food with her passion for writing. For two decades, she has written and developed recipes for magazines and books, collaborating with James Beard Award winners, including Chef Frank Stitt on his two cookbooks, Frank Stitt's Southern Table and Frank Stitt's Bottega Favorita, and Chef Chris Hastings on The Hot and Hot Fish Club Cookbook. She also served as Chef Todd English's editor on Cooking in Everyday English. She resides in Birmingham, Alabama, with (like Martina) her husband, John, and three daughters.

Martina’s book reads like an old friend. It’s full of fun, warmth, and invites the reader into the author’s home for great food and wonderful ideas celebrating special gatherings of family and friends. There are over three hundred pages perfectly organized with recipes, party planning tips covering invitations, menus, decorations, favors and of course party music playlists. I enjoyed reading the personal stories behind many of the recipes (Martina’s father’s potato salad). Look out Martha Stewart, Martina McBride has created a lively, contemporary and charming guide to entertaining at home that spans all seasons. I’ll be giving many of these books away this Christmas!

I recall making triple chocolate cranberry oatmeal cookies 6 years ago thinking that a book might be in Martina's future. Finally the long awaited date has come and there is a cookbook. But it is so much more than a book of her favorite recipes. This is a glimpse into the McBride home. If you ever wondered how to celebrate a friend's important life event, this book will show you. If you ever wished you knew what Martina was listening to on her ipod, this book will show you. Even if you don't listen to her music (you should start listening to her music!!!), you'll enjoy her party ideas. You may never be lucky enough to find yourself in Nashville at one of Martina's parties (I'm sorry) but reading this book is the next best thing.

Pros: has healthy dishes as well, packed with lots of recipes and photos, has something for every season
Cons: There was a special edition sold only at WMT.

Nice book with a good balance of recipes and ideas for entertaining. If you are a McBride fan you'll also love the color photos showing her at home, in the kitchen and with family and friends. Good food and good friends gathered around the table...now there's something to sing about!

This cookbook is written by well-known country singer, Martina McBride. Several years ago, I first learned about her through her music and became a huge fan. Soon after, I learned that she enjoyed cooking, so when I found out that she released her first cookbook, I knew it was going to be great!

Around the Table: Recipes and Inspiration for Gatherings Throughout the Year is set up a little differently than most cookbooks. Instead of the chapters being set up with "main dishes", "sides", "desserts", etc.; they are set up according to occasion. Here are a few examples: "Fall Supper With Friends", "Family Pizza Night", "Spring Brunch Outdoors", and "Red, White, and Blue Cookout". I personally like that special touch. It sets this cookbook apart from others and make it unique. Also included in this book are menus and planners for those parties or gatherings. She shares what needs to be done weeks in advance as well as the day of the party. That can make things a lot easier!!

The recipes in this book are a little more elegant than I would normally do on a regular day, but nothing too extreme. They are totally do-able, even for a beginner cook. I found quite a number of recipes that sounded delicious, and that I would want to try. Overall, I have no complaints for this book, and I would highly recommend it. I loved all the photos and special touches throughout. It is nicely put together and the recipes are easy to follow. It would make a great addition to anyone's cookbook collection!

I made the Hunter's Chicken for a dinner party i'm having tonight. Not an easy task. Directions are not real clear. I could not use the drippings from frying the chicken because it was full of flower that was almost to the point of being burnt. So I starter the sauce over with fresh evoo, white wine, and the rest of the ingredients called for and noticed that the picture showed the sage and garlic in the dish but the directions says to discard the marinate. very confusing. We'll see how it tastes it's in the oven now. As I sit here now I don't think I'll try this one again.

I love Martina and was really looking forward to this cookbook, but was sadly disappointed. Although it is full of beautiful pictures and stories, the recipes are not geared toward the middle class family. Most of these dishes require costly ingredients that most families I know wouldn't be able to afford. There are lots of great party planning tips, but only helpful if you have the money to splurge on fancy foods and decor. I think this book was written more for families with high incomes, not the every-day, average family. I am still a fan of Martina`s music, but I just don't feel like the cookbook was worth the money for me and my family.

I was so excited to receive this cookbook and was sorely disappointed when it finally arrived. The recipes in it aren't anything special. In fact, several are recipes that you probably already have (Hershey's hot chocolate...the one on the back of the cocoa can for example). I thought about sending the book back but decided to give it to my mom instead.

Not a good cookbook. Was sadly disappointed. I LOVE Martina...but this had too much text and not enough recipes. I'll keep it, but it wasn't what I thought it was...Country Cooking.
