4.0 out of 5 stars now that's a bad b@#$* !, July 23, 2006

i wasn't gonna purchase this book initially because the only author i was familiar with was thomas long, but i decided to buy it on the strength of thomas long because he ALWAYS delivers. long's "born into the game" tells the story of tamara and tamia barnes, the twin daughters of the notorious kingpin timmy barnes. after their father is arrested for drugs and countless murders, these girls feel compelled to carry out their father's legacy. but once they are knee deep in the game, they soon realize that everthing that glitters aint gold. true readers of urban lit won't be disappointed. the other two stories just didn't do it for me. they were just OKAY.
although anthologies are a great vehicle for unknown authors to become known, in urban lit it is so easy to separate the real from the fake. some writers aren' capable of capturing the grit and grime of street life and writing short stories are especially hard because a writer is forced to do in 100 pages what they would normally do in 300. only a handful of authors are blessed with this talent.

This review is from: Around the Way Girls 3 (Paperback)
I have not gotten to the third set of twins yet, but the frist two were excellent. I had a hard time putting the book down trying to figure out what was going to happen next. I knew it was going to be good because I own Around the Way Girls 1,and 2.

4.0 out of 5 stars Round and Round we go!, August 5, 2006
This review is from: Around the Way Girls 3 (Paperback)
I enjoyed "Around the Way Girls 3". I must admit on the real I liked the first 2 better. But this one still kept me hooked. All the stories were about twin sisters. Alisha Yvonne ( who is one of favorite authors) short story about the Cane sisters, was my fave. Alisha got a little gangsta, but it was all good. I also enjoyed Thomas Long's story and Pat Tucker's.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's real, August 27, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Around the Way Girls 3 (Paperback)
I have read around the way girls part one, two, and three and I can say that Part III is what's happen. The author can not keep it no real than what it is. Thats one of the goodiest book I have read this year. If you are from the street you can relate and understand it is what it is. But you have to walk their shoes and crawl their crawl or you wouldn't understand the around the way girls. If you like adventures and excitement this is the book to read so if you do not have it yet you need to purchase now. Keeping it real.
