Classic Instrumental Music,
By A Customer
This review is from: Around the World in 80 Days (Audio CD)
An excellent instrumental album with beautiful, detailed arrangements. More easily accessible than some classical music. If you enjoy instrumental music, you'll probably really enjoy this album.

Fly "Around the World," But Don't Pay a Fortune,
By Michael B. Richman (Portland, Maine USA) - See all my reviews (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Around the World in 80 Days (Audio CD)
Gerald Wiggins' "Around the World in 80 Days" is another one of my Fantasy/OJC warehouse clearance sale finds on the Oldies/Collectables website. Originally made for the Specialty label and recorded on June 12, 1957 (my birthday, alas 14 years earlier), it features Wiggins on piano, future Dave Brubeck Quartet bassist Eugene Wright, and Bill Douglass on drums. As the title indicates, all of the selections are modern jazz interpretations of music from Victor Young's famous score. My reasons for writing this review are twofold -- first, the other review doesn't tell you a thing about this CD, and second don't pay a fortune for it used in the Marketplace, check out Oldies. Going "Around the World" is fun, but it's better if you can find a cheap flight.
