Grade 3-6?In 12 scenes around the world, readers are invited to locate a treasure hunter as well as different numbers of objects. All are set in big houses in different countries with many people doing various things in and around them. The watercolor and pen-and-ink art is bright and almost too detailed?there are just too many tiny items for readers to find them all in a reasonable amount of time. Also, the pictures at the bottom of each double-page spread that show what is to be searched for do not always reflect the appearance of the object itself. This is a difficult find-it book that may frustrate fans of "Waldo" (Little) and "I Spy" titles (Scholastic), but it looks too young for an older audience.?JoAnn Rees, Sunnyvale Public Library, CA

David Anson Russo's incredibly beautiful high detailed scenes featuring countries around the world are chock filled with icons the reader must find. The reader must find more and more with each consecutive spread of art. This book accomplishes something the "waldo" book never came close to on an artistic level. All of our daughter's friends(boys too) love the book, and spend hours with it on play dates. Best of all parents, it works wonders on long car rides. Plus, there is a "not in your face" geography lesson built into the book. We highly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys the interactive seek/find experience. We've bought several for friends' kids over the years, all with rave reviews. When she's asleep at night, I like to sneak over and play the book too!

Thanks to David Anson Russo's sophisticated Around The World: The Great Treasure Hunt and his first book which we were gifted "The Great Treasure Hunt" my kids finally took their minds off a computer monitor and love spending time with these books. They have been taken on long trips and to sleepover parties. These books are simply amazing, and we love to "play" the books too and discover the icons along w/the kids. They also liked the I Spy books-but these were a much bigger hit. We can't wait for Russo's next Treasure Hunt book! Where is it Simon & Schuster?
