Book Description

July 2003
These dolls have been well loved by millions of children for their tremendous appeal and durability, and by parents for their design and quality. These dolls are highly prized and sought after by doll collectors. To date, no book has been published specifically on this company, and Collector Books is proud to be the first to do so. Extensively researched, Arranbee Dolls includes the majority of the known Arranbee dolls from 1922 through 1959, all under one cover, and in many cases accompanied by an original advertisement. Over 650 color photographs and illustrations, including brochures and body construction details, are included in the book. AUTHORBIO: A graduate of Connecticut State College, Suzanne DeMillar studied music, landscape painting, poetry, and specialty clothing design, in addition to doll clothes design and doll collecting. Her concentration on dolls began in the mid-1980s when she learned professional doll repair and became a dealer in addition to enlarging her personal collection. She and husband Dennis Brevik publish an international mail order catalog and have their own website. AUTHORBIO: Dennis J. Brevik is a retired engineer, and husband of Suzanne L. DeMillar. They co-authored Arranbee Dolls, and together publish an international mail order catalog which they have been doing for ten years. He and his wife have their own website and auction dolls frequently on Internet auctions. REVIEW: This book is the first of its kind, showcasing the dolls produced by the Arranbee Doll Company from 1922 through 1959. Large detailed color photographs in a well-presented format make this book a collector's treat.

5.0 out of 5 stars great book, March 3, 2007
This review is from: Arranbee Dolls: The Dolls That Sell on Sight (Paperback)
I have many doll reference books and this one is great. Although it is not really a price guide. It does have great color pictures and has a great history of the Arranbee dolls. A beaufiful book. It is worth having in your collection.

This review is from: Arranbee Dolls: The Dolls That Sell on Sight (Paperback)
This book is an answer to prayer! For years I have been trying to find out the name and type of doll that was my childhood favorite. My mother and father bought her during the end of the Depression/start of World War II, and she must have been expensive for the time. When I finally received my "Arranbee Dolls: Identification & Value Guide" ordered through Amazon.com, I somehow I turned right to page 79, and there was my precious doll in all her store-bought beauty, with a red feather in her hair! Of course I had played with her over the years and after 50 years her clothes and hair were a mess. With the photo of how she looked originally I can now take her to a doll hospital and have her restored. Her original white rabbit fur cape is still intact. A new gown can be copied according to the photo, and new "red snap shoes" and white socks provided. I would highly recommend this book to any doll "admirer," either amateur or professional.
