VOIP also never worked correctly.

I bought this eMTA hoping that it would work on Comcast since the TM602G was a little too expensive, turned out to be a mistake.

This modem worked perfectly, but I wanted to warn customers in Pennsylvania that it is illegal to buy this modem as Comcast has exclusive rights in this state. Pennsylvania customers are forced to lease this modem from Comcast and cannot purchase it either from Comcast or other vendors. The vendor I bought this from, MGI Warehouse, did not inform me of this and I ended up having to return it to them and therefore losing money due to shipping costs. Amazon also did not inform me of this.

So before purchasing this item please call Comcast and make sure it is okay in your state to buy this from another vendor.

I bought this eMTA hoping that it would work on Comcast since the TM602G was a little too expensive, turned out to be a mistake. Comcast would be able to detect it (in MA) but for some reason the eMTA would remain offline even with the correct CMAC, MTA-MAC, and S/N number in the Comcast network. I know this device is listed on Comcast's list of supported devices but unless you feel the cost of this and the $30 from the Comcast guy you're going to have to call then go ahead and buy it. Buying the TM602G and seeing if that works, if it does I'll post it in the comments of this review to the bottom right.

This may say "Arris Comcast" but if you buy it when you try and hook it up to comcast they will say that the "MAC Address" will not work with comcast and you MUST go buy the $150 one at Best Buy. Even though this may even be the same model that set you up with.

As warned by everyone, do not purchase this item if you tend to use it with Comcast because it will not work. Comcast and Best Buy force people to buy this product through Best Buy in order to get it to work.

My leased model works fine. The exact replacement I bought online didn't work, but didn't cost me anything except wasted time

The product might work just fine but not if Comcast refused to properly activate the modeum. When you buy a used modeum it comes imbeddded with the previous owners phone # (triple play) Comcast with usually not change that phone number so it is useless to you. It can be done if the tech chooses to do so. It did work just fine as a friend had the process go smoothly. In my case they just want me to go to Best Buy and buy a new modeum for $119.00. It was a very frustrating ang unsuccesful experience.

By properly attaching this modem we should have been able to connect to our provider, Comcast. We tried powering the modem thinking that the rechargeable battery was the fault, without success. (we are renting an identical modem from Comcast which operates perfectly.) The purpose of buying the Arris was to avoid those monthly charges. the seller of this unit advertised it as "$34; used...like new"; which we interpret as being operational although used. We would like the seller to replace this purchased modem with one that is effectively operational OR to pay the shipping for us to return it for a refund.

Amazon.com was notified. In turn they informed the seller, jonobo, expecting that the seller would contact us (for some type of adjustment or replacement). After two weeks there has still been "nary a peep" from the seller. what a bummer!!!

This modem works great for me. More impressive is that when I recieved the first one it was not functioning totally and the vendor got a replacement out very quickly with a return label. Comcast had minor issues setting up their end to get it fully functional but this is a supported modem for them. They did not give me details of their fix. I hope they documented it ;). It has been working flawlessly since.
