Product Description

"Our Gidget II is for the big girls......" Gidget II is a sturdy table that offers free arm and flatbed sewing for those larger sewing machines( the big girls) on the market. Her opening is 23 1/2" wide x 12 1/2" deep and she will support a 45-pound sewing machine! The steel locking legs offer a sturdy base, but fold up neatly for easy storage. With a Velcro strip to secure the legs in place and 2 wheels on the side of the table, our Gidget II is perfect table for taking to classes, retreats or in your RV. Her tough melamine surface is mar-resistant allowing for years of use creating sewing and craft projects.

This is a great device for the money. There has been some comments about the lack of finish in obscure parts of the table. In fact they 'go away' when one gets and installs an acrylic form fitted insert. Such (insert)is almost obligatory for best function like sewing ( just a fer instance ).

This sewing table is very well built, for the money. While not many favor particle board it can be lived with if one realizes that it is not to be danced upon. The steel tubular frame is well executed and most sufficient to provide robust support and give long life. The height adjusting insert is clever enough,
it may seem basic but in fact is very functional and permits both fine and gross adjustments.

The next step in the sewing machine table hierarchy was a bit shocking to me. I did not find a middle ground and after looking I ran over and patted Ol' Gidget2 and told it how wonderful it was.

For 180 dollars I found no flaws. There are other Gidget models for less money and if you have a sewing machine with a foot print not large than the Brother PQ 1500 or the Juki TL series 'class' they will be even better as they will fit so close ( their insert/opening being considerably smaller ) you could successful avoid the 50 dollars + S&H for a fitted acrylic insert.

I recently got back into sewing and had been using my kitchen table as my sewing table. Although roomy, it's a counter height table so I had trouble reaching the peddle to my machine; I had to sit on the very edge of the seat and that wasn't very comfortable. In addition to the seat height issues, it was becomming more and more of a pain in the behind to move the machine, my quilt, all my supplies and such every night for dinner. I needed a solution and started looking for tables/cabinets.

I was really overwhelmed by the selection of sewing tables and cabinets out there. Sure, some of them were very nice but I couldn't imagine spending more on a stand for my machine than I paid for the machine itself. I wanted something very low frills that allowed me to drop my machine bed even with the surface. I happened across this one on a free motion quilting blog and watched several videos on how the Gidget II sets up easily. I was a little skeptical that it'd be sturdy enough but, since I could find no other options that I liked, I decided to go for it.

I was very plesantly surprised. The Gidget 2 is a very solid table and, even at high speeds, doesn't move much at all. Setting it up was a breeze and it's light weight enough that I can move it easily if I need to. So far, I've only machine pieced one quilt and made several grocery bags but I have to say, it's got all the room I need for what I have been doing. I like how there's a measuring tape decal on the top front of the table - I find myself using it more and more.

Construction
Yes, some people may complain that it is made out of fiberboard. I don't really see that as an issue. It's laminated with a very sturdy, almost countertop type laminant and has a nice thick plastic edge for a bumper.

I was a little leary about buying this because I was concerned about stability. The only problem I had was the length of the chain that holds the drop down section but that was an easy fix. The best way to get great use of this table is to contact Arrow and have a custom insert made for your machine. They are reasonable and pretty much a necessity. I will probably order another insert for my other machine. I can work at my machine longer because it puts everything at the right height. Sorry I did not do this sooner!

I am pleased with this table. It is very sturdy and I use the ruler on it all the time. I did find it more than a little difficult to roll up-and-down steps when transporting it to my quilting bees. Also, it is a little heavy to load into my car all by myself. On to a better note: I place an under-cabinet light on the board that holds the machine; then I place a flat, see-through plastic craft-box lid over the opening to make an inexpensive light box for tracing designs.

I purchased this product because my sewing machine was positioned too high on both my desk and table. My arms and shoulders hurt whenever I worked on long projects. I found the Gidget 2 sewing table on line and thought the adjustable platform might be more position friendly. However the assembly directions were confusing, even the pictures at the bottom of the page were confusing. The platform is really not adjustable. Either it is in the down position or flat at top. Two chains and bolts hold the platform in the down position. The directions mention one can remove some of the chain links but it looks as if one would have to unscrew the bolt in the melamine surface which means it may not fit when I attempt to screw it back. Its weird, the chains have different number of links, one side 10 and the other 11 making the platform slight tilted. I found that wrapping the chains around the metal frame almost makes the needle tip at the suggested level with the edge of the table. I am using the table....it does provide a better work position but I feel it could have been designed better. If I had seen it in a store and saw how the platform mechanism worked (?), I would not have bought it and would have looked for a better made table.
