5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!
We have eaten this product for decades. It's like cream of wheat, but organic. Has a slightly nutty taste. Cooks up just as fast. Tastes even better! Good for you too! Also, this same product is available in a more generic, cheaper version called Germade, which is whole wheat. Excellent stuff! We love it!

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Make Your Children Suffer Like I Did
If there was a zero star option, I would use it. This disgusting cereal gets all sorts of huge lumps in it when prepared. It has definitely been around for awhile, because I ate it as a young child (or better said, I was forced to eat it as a young child.) After a few times of being forced to consume this horribly lumpy, tasteless mess, I threw it up in my bowl.

Hot cereal is my thing and the more whole grain the better. Bear Mush is similar to Cream of Wheat or Farina but with guts! It is hard red winter wheat and not ground down quite as finely as the aforementioned cereals. This is purity at it's best and Arrowhead Mills always delivers for me. It is so comforting this time of year that I am known to make this my dinner. This cereal has a soothing quality for me, is filling and hits me in all of the right places. You can't beat the subscribe & save price to boot!

I also loved "Cream of Wheat" as a kid. I found this product at a health food store years ago and have been in love with it ever since. I enjoy it for breakfast with a a little butter, salt and pepper...YUM!! I like my Bear Mush thick so I simply reduce the amount of water called for...yummy...yummy...yummy. I love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Takes me back to being a kid..., October 19, 2010
This review is from: Arrowhead Mills Hot Cereal, Bear Mush, 24-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6) (Grocery)
I ate a lot of Cream of Wheat, Farina, Malt-O-Meal, etc. as a kid and loved it. the other day I got a hankering for some, and this was the only option at my local natural foods store, so I grabbed it. Very glad that I did. Tastes great with about a tablespoon of brown sugar, a teaspoon of cinnamon, and a splash of milk (per serving.) To the reviewer down below who says that it's lumpy and tasteless, you're just doing it wrong. You have to add the cereal to the water when it's still cold (so BEFORE you put it on the stove), you have to stir it constantly while it's cooking (which takes about 4 mins, total), and you have to season it with sugar, cinnamon, maple syrup, or whatever else you like. No different than oatmeal. I had some for breakfast this morning and it was smooth in texture, and delicious.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delicious and fluffy, July 7, 2009
This review is from: Arrowhead Mills Hot Cereal, Bear Mush, 24-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6) (Grocery)
My vegetarian daughter is picky about what she eats before running off to school. She adores this cereal so much that I decided to try it. We make it in the microwave just as it states on the box and it comes out so fluffy and with a creamy texture and great cereal taste. (Be sure to put it in a bigger bowl as it puffs up before it settles back down!)

It's one of the better tasting hot cereals on the market. It's got some good nutrition in there as well...of course being from a great, wholesome company it would. :)

We also mix it after cooking with almonds, and/or flax seed, dried or fresh fruit, maple syrup or brown sugar or for me: Agave syrup and sliced or chopped raw almonds are my favorite.

I use milk, not water and add vanilla and coconut oil and top it with cinnamon sugar. My son would eat it for every meal if I would let him.

I really love this cereal. Quite and easy breakfast every morning. Great with a variety of mix-ins. My favs: pecan pieces, raspberries, cinnamon, and a drizzle of maple syrup.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dad loves it, May 20, 2011

I bought a case of this for my father who had a stroke and was on a soft foods diet. He has graduated to regular food but still wants the Bear Mush for breakfast almost every morning. He loves the stuff. I thought the price was resonable considering it was not an available item at our local grocery store. Shipping was free and it was delivered quickly.
