With the new scare on arsenic levels in rice, I did several hours of research and found that different parts of the US that grow rice had different levels of arsenic in the soil which the rice then soaked up. I am feeding my 6 month old son brown rice cereal and am very concerned about the arsenic levels I read about. I bought this brand and after learning the rice they use is grown in Texas, and that Texas is listed as one of the higher arsenic levels, I am returning this product and purchasing Bobs Red Mill organic Brown rice farina. This rice is grown in California which is listed as the least arsenic levels (almost undetectible). I tried Quinoa and my son didn't like it. He's a little too young for oatmeal but that will be our next adventure. Just thought you would all like to know this information. Good health to everyone

Finding a truly wonderful product when you are gluten intolerant is often very difficult. Rice and Shine cereal is just that, however. It is the best hot cereal that I have tried. It has a wonderful texture and flavor.

This is a delicious and very affordable gluten free hot cereal. After eating wheat based cereals, breads and pasta all of my long life, adjusting to a gluten free diet has not been easy. This is one of the gluten free products that has helped with the transition. I add varying combinations of cinnamon, nutmeg, raisins, nuts, to this cereal and create new flavors. Highly recommended.

With our children having been recently diagnosed with Celiac disease (Gluten intollerance), this product has been a great discovery as an excellent gluten free hot breakfast cereal. Our middle son requests "Rice & Shine" pretty much every morning, and preparation/microwave cook time is approximately 10 minutes which helps for those crazy school day mornings. We are very happy to have found this product!

I'm restricted to gluten-free food products. I've tried other brands when this would disappear off the shelf in my local market. The others were worse than unappealing -- They smelled and tasted like paper mache' paste. So I took to ordering this by the case from my local health food store. I switched to Amazon's subscription to receive it because it costs less per box and I only have to get 4 at a time (I don't have to figure out where to keep 12 boxes).

The subscription service is GREAT! You choose how often to receive delivery. When delivery time comes up, you have the option to delay it if you want, and there's no shipping charge. I now receive several items in this manner because it's less expensive and I don't have to worry about them not being on the store shelf when I need them.

Case to case, the cereal can be a bit inconsistent, not in flavor but I find I may have to adjust the cooking time a little bit (a difference of seconds) to get the consistency in texture that I like.

I DEFINITELY recommend this product and hope I never have need to smell paper mache' in my kitchen again!

Very amusing reviews here, folks either dislike or love this cereal. I suspect the cook's lack of creativity is the main reason some dislike this cereal. Rice is like grits, it's only as good as its additions. My main reason for eating hot rice cereal is because at age 62, I've become gluten intolerant. Eating this cereal eliminated my bloating and intestinal issues, and I'm on the "love it" side. But, I only use half of the rice as recommended in the instructions and although it results in a soupy cereal, I mix in one heaping tablespoon of powdered coconut milk, mixed fruit (fresh or dried) and a heaping tablespoon of my favorite granola. No butter, sweetner or salt is necessary. I also make a large pot of the cereal (5 cups water) which does take some time, but it keeps for 3 more days, and so the next time I have rice cereal, I merely spoon it into a microwaveable bowl, zap it for 3 minutes, then add my condiments and Bob's your uncle.

One of my favorite things is listening to the 'king of all media.' He has talked about loving this breakfast treat numerous times on his show, so I had to try it. I ordered the 4 box pack, and I'm so glad I did. WOW! Fantastic! I came home to find the package on my doorstep, so I decided to try it for dinner. Very easy to prepare. I added amber agave nectar as a sweetener, chopped walnuts, and cinnamon. D-lish! I normally eat steel cut oats, so this will be a nice alternative. So wonderful. Reminds me of an improved, tastier version of the cream of wheat my mom made us when we were tots. I highly recommend this cereal. I bought this because all of the reviews were so good, but I just don't like it. It's slightly bitter and the texture is unpleasant to me. It's unusual for me not to like something-I'm not really picky about much.I really love Bob's Red Mill "Mighty Tasty". I also love Cream of Rice. I hope I can give it away to someone who will use it up, because I now have 4 boxes and just can't eat it. I fixed it both in the microwave and on the stove. I doctored it up with butter, pecans and maple syrup and still didn't like it. Then I tried it with butter and cheddar cheese-no luck. Maybe I'll try using milk instead of water.Does anyone have any suggestions?
