Book Description

February 12, 2009
This new and exciting book on arrowheads is different from others you have read. It starts with the Indians' ancestors coming to America and the culture timelines from 28,000 years ago to 1,000 years ago. It relates Paleo, Archaic, and Woodland peoples and the stone artifacts they produced. Next, there are 121 points described and identified. Following that is a section on Southwest Paleo and Archaic points, something which has not been included in other books on the subject. Most of the remainder of the book features projectile points in full color, with collector values. There are many scenic photographs throughout the book showing how Indian country looked long ago. A digest of sorts, this book contains information you would have to look in several books to find. It's a must-have for Indian artifact and arrowhead collectors everywhere. 2009 values.

Editorial Reviews

Review

The author's goal is to cover the entire United States for the period when points were used, from 20,000 B.C. to 1,000 B.C., and draw comparisons of those used in various parts of the country. Basic point shapes and features are defined, and charts, diagrams and drawings are included to help the collector understand and identify the pieces in a collection.

This review is from: Arrowheads Early Man Projectile Points of North America (Hardcover)
Any serious arrowhead collector and libraries catering to archaeologists or collectors alike will find Arrowheads: Early Man Projectile Points of North America an excellent guide. It covers identification and values and includes galleries of points that presents descriptions, distribution notes, age and descriptive remarks. Technical and perfect for the arrowhead specialist.

1.0 out of 5 stars Really???, July 3, 2010
This review is from: Arrowheads Early Man Projectile Points of North America (Hardcover)
This is by far one of the worst artifact guides on the market. The typology is a mess and filled with so many inaccurate descriptions that its a small miracle when you you find one that is true to the piece. About half of the "relics" pictured throughout its pages are blatant fakes. A little bit of knowledge can be a dangerous thing. Especially when you decide to write a book. For the seasoned collector this book is a great laugh. I only feel bad for the newer collectors who will be misled by this substandard work.
