Editorial Reviews

Continuing their climb to prominence from modest Northwest roots, The Lonely Forest unveils its Trans Records label debut Arrows. The album release follows a year filled with recording, touring and the release of the band's eponymous digital-only EP. With multiple tours throughout 2010, The Lonely Forest has enjoyed the steady journey from Northwest D.I.Y. favorites to national touring act.

5.0 out of 5 stars Breathtaking June 11, 2011

Amazon had the single Coyote downloadable for free, so I figured why not. Low and behold it was A-mazing and I have been playing it and the accompanying album non-stop since. The Lonely Forest have a young sound but somehow inflect it with life experience that is quite surprising. Explore the topics of life, death, love, success, failure, and home with a band that has beautiful lyrical and musical insight into all of these. The band also brings a unique Northwestern feel in their lyrics singing of evergreens and giving a feeling of openness and beauty.

I found the true standouts to be Coyote (of course), Turn off This Song and Go Outside, I Don't Want to Live There, and Woe is Me... I am Ruined. I recommend grabbing the CD though. Listening to it the whole way through is unlike anything else and the whole album is pure platinum. Hopefully you take this advice and start enjoying Arrows and The Lonely Forest stat.

I have been a fan of The Lonely Forest sense I saw them preform live at my college. They had such a passion and fire for their music that the sound was just contagious. By the end of the show I was jumping and singing along without knowing the words. When I learned that they were signed onto a record label I was ecstatic. It was a break for the band that they deserve. I have had the chance to meet and talk to all of them multiple times and they truly love what they do. It shows. This album is amazing and only gets better the more you listen to it. There will be great things coming from this band in the future for sure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great album, worth a listen April 25, 2011

I originally saw this band play in Philadelphia at Johnny Brenda's. I went to see a different band play and was very surprised with what I heard from this band. I immediately bought this album and have listened to it a ton since. Favorite songs include (I am) The Love Addict, I don't want to live there, We Sing in Time, and Turn off this song and go outside. All the other songs are great as well. Probably one of my top 10 albums at the moment.
