Timba: La vida misma!!!,

Finally a US Timba band capable to groove like those in Havana. I grew up dancing Timba in Cuba and this band makes me feel like if I was there all over again. Once you get Timba in your system every other rhythm takes a second place.
A LATIN GRAMMY nomination for this band speaks for itself.

don't know that much about Cuban music - just know I've loved Buena Vista Social club since that album came out. I never believed anything could top that. But now that I've listened to ths album by these young Miami-based Cubans, I've fallen in love with Cuban music all over again. A perfect album to perk you up on even the bluest of days. These guys have a pipleline into some pure sense of musical joy that most musicians just dream of.

I heard this group in Davidson, North Carolina of all places. I knew nothing about Cuban music or timba, but these guys blew me away - with their energy and virtuosity. I couldn't imagine that they could capture on a recording the kind of energy and joy they transmit in perofrmance, but they've really done it. Highly recommended for anyone who just wants to feel great listening to music. You don't have to know anything about Cuba or its music to just feel exhilarated listening to every song. Even my father-in-law is listening to this c.d.!

I've listened to quite a bit of timba - groups like NG la Banda, Klimax, etc. Never imagined that a group based outside of Cuban could have the smoking energy and virtuosic drive that the Havana groups do. But these guys outstrip the competition! Exciting that a Miami-based group can bring the most essential energy of timba to listeners here in the US. What a gift to have an album like this, fulll of original material and stretching the boundaries of the genre.
