FANTASTIC,
By Dr. Audre Garcia-Grice "sahdana" (Westchester, N.Y.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Art Against Apartheid: Works For Freedom (IKON Second Series Numbers 5 - 6) (Paperback)
This is a fantastic publication and a must have and collector's item that reflects a most important period in world history. Actually, I'm included as one of the poets in this publication-the title of my poem is The Vulture Culture and I'm so proud to be included with such wonderful and dedicated artists and human beings concerned about well-beingness and getting rid of "dis-eased" oppression.

This review is from: Art Against Apartheid: Works For Freedom (IKON Second Series Numbers 5 - 6) (Paperback)
This special double issue begins with an introduction by Alice Walker and continues with original contributions from a number of artists, including Audre Lorde, June Jordan, Jessica Hagedorn, and many more Visual artists represented include Tom Feelings, Candida Alvarez, Sue Coe and Leon Golub. This book contains moving contributions from writers, poets, photographers and artists: a number of them, but not all, of African origin. Little poems and long poems, crudely lettered posters and fine drawings, angry statements and plain, chilling documentation. Every page tells of the stark reality of apartheid.
