5.0 out of 5 stars It's about time!, November 16, 2004
I've been an Amy Brown fan for years and years - have been a collector of her works and have watched her go from a modest fantasy artist of fairies to someone popular and is now famous in certain art circles.

Many people, like me, had waited for a long time for her to compile her favorite and best pieces into a book. And it was very well put together. She chose pieces I would have chosen myself, plus she has many newer pieces too.

Almost all of the artwork is done in watercolor, which is what she is most known for. She knows how to blend the colors with water and pencils in a way that is truly her own style. Her classic signature feet (no toes) was consistent throughout... and her renditions of fairies, dragons, and even mermaids bring out her truly eclectic style.

I can't wait to see book #2!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING BOOK, HIGHTLY RECOMMENDED!!, February 6, 2005
By

ok, let me start by telling you that I have a huge library of fantasy literature & illustration books. I own just about every fantasy illustrated book out there, but this is that ONE book that I constantly look at. It's like getting around 150 Amy Brown prints for the price of one or two!! Amy's artwork is just amazing, and there's so much detail to each page, that you can look at it for hours. Each page of the book is a full print of Amy's artwork, and most of the pages have a little note of information from Amy about that specific painting.
If you love fantasy and fairies, this is a MUST HAVE for your collection. You won't be disappointed in this one.
Can't wait for the next one Amy!!!!!!!!!!!

I received this marvelous book as a Christmas gift. This was the first time I saw any of Amy's work. I became enthralled with her beautiful imagery. She now has a most devoted fan of her work. I look forward to another book filled with the beauty of the first one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amy Brown's Book of Art, December 24, 2006
This review is from: The Art of Amy Brown (Bk. 1) (Perfect Paperback)
When I first saw this book, I was at Hot Topic and was just browsing. I had already known for years who Amy Brown was, and was a big fan of her artwork. My sister apparently noticed how much I was enjoying the book, and ended up buying it for me for Christmas.
I was blown away to say the very least. I don't exactly know what it is, but Amy Brown, just has something in her paintings that literally make you feel like you are really watching a faerie or whatever mystical creature it is right in front of you. Just when I think I know a picture completley, I look again and find something new to love about it.
Also, something I liked, about the book specifically, was that below each painting is Amy saying something about the painting.
I would reccomend this book not just to Amy Brown fans, but to any fans of fantasy paintings, you will truly be blown away.

A very playful artist with a vivid imagination. Amy's art is fun to look at and makes me want to have lots of wall space to hang her art. She is so creative and fun that it is nearly impossible to pick just one print to have in my art collection. Even my teenagers raged over the spriteliness of her craft. Can't get better than that, I guess.

I have been collecting Amy Brown faery art for several years. She definitely has an affinity for the Fae. I recommend this book along with Brian Froud's books.

Bought a copy of this book for a friend at work who said she likes Amy Brown's artwork of faery's. I ordered this as a birthday gift and loved it so much I bought a copy for myself. I will buy my friend Amy Brown's second book most likely for Christmas. I am very pleased, this is a large book with very wonderful watercolor artwork and lots of detail. If you buy a copy you will not be disappointed whether it's for yourself or a gift for someone you want to make happy!!

A beautiful and thought provoking collection of pictures! I highly enjoyed the read and intend to show it off to whomsoever should show an interest. Amy Brown is a well known faery artist with a knack for inspiring deep contemplation over even the smallest of pieces. If you like fantasy art, you really should own this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous!, April 13, 2010

This review is from: The Art of Amy Brown (Bk. 1) (Perfect Paperback)
This book made me appreciate watercolors. Amy Brown manipulates the paints into interesting colors and textures which make her paintings come alive. Previously, judging by the cheesy prints and bumperstickers, I thought her drawing was weak and I never really got to appreciate the real beauty of her art. I thought she was overrated, but this book has actually made me realize that she's extremely talented. Every picture is sweet or moving in some way, and tells a story. This book is definately worth owning and looking through when you need inspiration or reference as to how to successfully watercolor.
