We all make mistakes in life, at home and at work. We hurt others by lying, procrastinating, breaking our promises, or by saying something unkind to someone else.

Unless you are prepared to change jobs on a regular basis, and replace your friends or even your spouse every few years, learning how to apologize is an essential skill at work, at home, and in life. This book will help you do just that.

In The Art of the Apology: How to Apologize Effectively to Practically Anyone, written by attorney and ethics expert Lauren Bloom, you will learn:

-- The Six Essential Elements of an Effective Apology
-- The Best Timing for Your Apology
-- How to Apologize at Work, and to Your Loved Ones
-- Apologizing to Clients and Customers and Why Your Lawyer May Tell You Not To!
-- The 12 Most Common Ways to Botch an Apology
-- What You Should Do When You Can't Apologize
-- What to Do When You ve Really Blown It
-- How to Accept an Apology
-- How to Create an Apology-Friendly Workplace

Bloom's straightforward apology advice and practical guidance will help you make more effective apologies whenever you need to do so. The Art of the Apology is destined to become a classic reference for business and personal etiquette.

"This book is a gem. Pick one up for yourself as well as for everyone you care about." ----Bob Burg, coauthor (with John David Mann) of The Go-Giver

"This splendid little book not only contains much of practical value (I was personally helped by it), it will encourage the development of such virtues as honesty and humility, and that is no small gift." ----Rabbi Harold Kushner, author, When Bad Things Happen to Good People

Apologies hold great potential for personal growth. Through them we learn confidence, responsibility, empathy and honesty. In essence we strengthen our own character when we apologize. This book is excellent encouragement to regain strengths we may have lost or let slide over the years.---Lizzie Post, author,How Do You Work This Life Thing

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, Helpful Apology Advice, February 2, 2009
This review is from: The Art of the Apology (Paperback)
The Art of the Apology is an excellent guide to making an apology. Lauren Bloom gives straight forward advice about when to apologize, what to say when you do, and what you can do if you're owed an apology but not likely to get one. I found her book entertaining to read and filled with practical advice. She covers apologizing in your personal life and at work. Like Amy Vanderbilt was to etiquette, Lauren Bloom is to making an apology. There is an art to apologizing! Knowing how to do it right is a life skill.

4.0 out of 5 stars an important book, July 15, 2010
This review is from: The Art of the Apology (Paperback)
I enjoyed this book and believe the topic is more relevant than ever. I also read "Apology" by Simpson, which I found equally as compelling and inspirational and found on Amazon. Both books are as the reviewer states "a gem".Apology: The Importance and Power of Saying "I'm sorry"
