I'll get to the point: This book is a waste of time for readers who already have some introduction to baseball and gambling and are looking to get a winning edge. If you are looking for bet ideas from a winning gambler that are shown to statistically outperform the casino odds historically, look elsewhere.

Instead you will find a handful of bet ideas, lost in a sea of painfully detailed play-by-play summaries of the events of the 2004 season, tied together clumsily by a universal idea of "military maxims". The bet ideas are justified with some general commentary followed by "here's one time that the bet worked in the 2004 season", which goes on for pages and is hardly convincing. The misspellings are frequent and get annoying.

In summary, you don't need to pay 14 bucks for detailed summaries of the 2004 season - go to espn.com.

It can be difficult to take an author seriously as an expert on any subject when his or her text is so heavily burdened with grammatical mistakes and errors of punctuation. This book sorely needs to be re-edited!

Page after page veers astray of the intended subject as the author reminisces about past games and pennant races. While the book relies heavily on example, many times these narratives were just digressions totally unrelated to the chapter subject.

This book has some solid ideas to relate about baseball wagering strategy, but the author's thoughts are so poorly organized that the book is simply not a worthwhile read.

I'll keep this brief. I just bought 6 books on sports gambling and odds. This one is the worst. It is absolute garbage. Like one of the reviews states above this book needs to be edited. So many misspellings and grammatical errors, so annoying. Besides that his advice makes no sense. There's nothing here, look elsewhere.

This is an excellent book for the avid baseball fan and baseball gambler.The first chapter reviews the criteria to rate an online betting site and also provides some of the more reliable sites to use and also provides other websites that provides the best sport betting info for free.In the next chapters The author then sets forth simple theorems and rules to guide the bettor throughout the long baseball season. Combining the actual story line,the games pitching matchups and statistics, with the use of sound strategic thought based on the science and art of military command is a winning strategy for baseball betting. This book without a doubt helps the baseball bettor find the most lucaritive betting situations to gamble on, without all the charts and statistics - therein the "art".

Insightful and innovative ideas on wagering on baseball.Based on actual results of wagering on baseball games during the course of the 2004 baseball season, one of the most memorable. The author uses strategic comparisons drawn from the "Art of war" and to the actual wager on a baseball game.The author makes a very valid point, baseball is a game of statistics and it collects so many statistics it can make a person give up in confused frustration! The author then explains why pitching and the quality of a teams pitching is "the center of gravity" and the impact pitching has on a baseball game,(like in war) is the focal point of the wager. The author provides pitching statistics useful to the handicapper and the most important statistic of all the "Team Record Behind Starting Pitching - TRSP which provides the tell tale stat of when that particular picther starts how well the team hits behind the pitcher (win or lose),which then provides the indicator to take the over or under or take the team to win or lose - regardles of whether the game is played at home or away!
This is the qualiity predicator of a games outcome - forget everything else! It Helped my baseball wagering immensely,all in all very informative and a good read.Also,provides helpful information on money lines,spreads,and the run-lines also includes a review of the best on-line betting sites and web-sites where you can find the best wagering information on games for free!

THE ART OF BETTING ON BASEBALL - opens a new window in sports betting. I get exactly what the author is trying to convey.
Using the same logic from following the logic of military strategy, and investing following trends and Pitching statistics called "splits" along with the story line of the game previews is enough for the average bettor to come away with a succesful proability of what team will win a ball game or not.
If you want to immerse yourself in needless mathematical equations that have as much luck as prediciating the winner of a ball game as that of picking the winner in a horse race then go somewhere else.

Great In-sight and innovative ideas to Betting on the great National Past-Time.I really liked it.
If you're looking for a get-rich scheme then look else where
(and might be looking for a long*long*time, too!).
But for the average income gambler like myself you'll make good use of the authors betting theories,money management and discipline guidelines..

Not a bad read, but not what a true baseball gambler needs! I'm a follow Author (here on Amazon.com), and I must admit that this Roman guy is quite the historian. But, beyond that, this book lacks any real helpful advice on how to increase ones bankroll, or simply become a better baseball gambler. The writing I thought was a bit benign and even borderline rudimentary. If you love baseball history, this is a decent book to own. But again (at the risk of sounding redundant), Mr. Roman fails miserably with his inept brand of baseball wagering strategies. I gave it 3-stars on the basis that is WAS a slightly entertaining read.
