This book is considered as a classic in the field of the history of the Byzantine art studies. Cyril Mango's books are used, as far as I know, in many universities around the world where the Byzantine studies are tought. I recomend it to everyone who wishes to know more about the subject, and I add to it Mango's other book "The Oxford History of Byzantium". They both give a good survey of the Byzantine world and culture. The book arrived from Amazon in great shape, completely new and shiny, and unexpectedly fast.
