Lots and lots of beautiful pictures of the spectacular historical patterns and the best of today's interpretations of American Indian pottery. Any clay artist should own this one! The work portrayed herein is truly inspiring.

5.0 out of 5 stars Historical Record, December 22, 2011
This review is from: Art of Clay: Timeless Pottery of the Southwest (Hardcover)
Whenever I look through this book, I feel as if I'm looking at a historical record of Pueblo pottery. The Introduction contains not only a brief history, but also photos of very old pottery or pieces thereof, dating from around 1200. The unnumbered chapters cover many potters, starting with Maria and Julian Martinez, progressing through Tony Da and Dextra Nampeyo to Nancy Youngblood, Russell Sanchez, and Tammy Garcia -- just a few among many. The chapters are written by different experts in Pueblo pottery. The photos are breath-takingly beautiful, and I particularly like how the captions give information on glazes or firing techniques. Highly recommended.
