I picked this CD up a couple of weeks ago, and I feel dumb that I waited so long to check it. Gore's album is probably my favorite out of the three solo joints. I played the ish out of "Whats Wrong With Bill?", but didn't like Sabac's album that much at all, so I was a little unsure how this album would sound. My personal opinion is Bills album was probably the illest lyrical wise, but the beats Necro gave Goretex out shine anything on Bill's joint. The title track "Art of Dying" starts this CD off and gives you a good feel for what your instore for, the next few songs are nice but didn't stick out much at first, the next track that really grabbed me was "Momentary Lapse of Reason", thats probably one of the illest beats Necro has ever done. "Celebrity Roast" is pretty brutal and hilarious at the same time. The whole album is sick, any goons out there that haven't picked this up need to make sure you cop this ish ASAP, this is goonism at its finest.

Necro did great production on this album. The beats are all awesome. Goretex is a pretty good rapper aswell, his voice is really angry sounding. He is pretty good lyrically aswell, like he talks about other stuff than violence, sex and drugs. This is a great album and i highly recommend it to any fan of death rap.

Interesting but Nahhh.......,

Well the beats are heavily raw on this one.. From the get-go u get bumpy instrumentals that are more thicker than a BK Milkshake...Gore keeps the delivery dapper with his raspy Mexican/Italian drawl. "Born of Fire" was my favorite cut in this album, in where the Necro beat flows fluid (though we all getting a lil tired of the same ol type sound after 5 other releases by the same producer) and Gore does his thang. Lyrically, he doesn't nor does any other of the goons pack punch like Ill Bill and Necro... Honestly, they just don't contain the charisma and addictive flow talent like the 2 dimented characters mentioned b4. But, nothing wrong with wanting to drop your own LP and observing how it does out there... Umm, it's a solid album,,,,,BUT it sure ain't anything impressive.. Just your avg. CD for these avg. days......

I love underground rap lyricist and Goretex does't fall short. I have to say out of Nonphixion, Goretex has to be the sickest one. Don't get me wrong Ill Bill, Necro, and Sabbac are sick too, but Goretex reminds me of early Immortal Technique albums. There is two tracks that the chorus kills the track, but other then that the rest of the album is sick. As for the person who said it sounded too cheap and choreographed wrong, IT'S CALLED UNDERGROUND FOR A REASON! If you want weak lyrics, horrible beats but that are choreographed perfectly buy mainstream hip hop, if you want to listen to sick lyrics, dope beats and aggressive tracks. BUY THIS, you won't regret it.

Non Phixion MC's bring it,
This review is from: Art of Dying (Audio CD)
I find that most of the Non Phixion MC's are dope. They bring that East Coast underground style really hard. Gortex is a great MC, he brings a good flow and hard, like you would expect from Uncle Howie Records. If you are a Non Phixion fan, then this album is a good one to add to your collection.

GORETEX IS THE SICKEST,
This review is from: Art of Dying (Audio CD)
The first time I heard necro and non phixion I was blown away by their style and skills they posses. I actually barely bought this cd and I must say that I play it everyday! It has dope beats and the flows are awesome too. I personally like goretex's flows over necro's. To me the best tracks here are # 1,2,3,5,6,11,and 19. But I usually just let it play. If you like non phixion or just hardcore hip hop, then you defeneitly must own a copy of this.

When I first heard this album I declared it the best Rap album for 2004. Part of it gave me emotional chills, the lyrics were angry, vulgar, and something different to my ears and mind. Goretex has a flow that really entertains me as a listener.
3 years after 9/11/01 Goretex released the Art of Dying, and it felt right. Many folks I know had no emotions regarding that day. However, as the time passed feeling developed, and this album was kind of a compliment to the belated emotions.

MEH??,

I was honestly expecting more, this album seemed rushed and hurried from the start. At only 46:00 minutes and about 11:00 of those skits this is more like an EP. The sound quality is bad, even for low budget underground!! Every song is similar and seems forced.
