5.0 out of 5 stars Understand the basics and yourself
This book hit the nail on the head for me. I have always doubted whether I knew enough and could trust myself enough to risk my own money trading. OK, I didn't read this book, although I did plan to buy it until I found something curious. This book was published in Nov. 2000, and all 10 reviews before me were posted in Dec. and Jan. 2001? With the first 5 of 7 claimed to be from IL? Go figure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Understand the basics and yourself, December 12, 2000

This review is from: The Art of Electronic Futures Trading: Building a Winning System by Avoiding Psychological Pitfalls (Hardcover)
This book hit the nail on the head for me. I have always doubted whether I knew enough and could trust myself enough to risk my own money trading. Trading is a lonely endeavor and Kaiser and Green laid out the plan for me and helped me understand that it is o.k. not to have all the answers and if I know enough about myself to trust my own decision making. I took their test (several times) and confirmed that I am an emotional second-guesser and that an off the shelf black box system won't work for me. I need to be involved, win, lose or scratch. Their discussion of basic market analysis and useful tools was clear and, again, helped me feel comfortable using my own analysis to make my own decisions. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to trade and feel confident that their decision making is as valid as anyone else's.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Art of Electronic Futures Trading, December 18, 2000

This review is from: The Art of Electronic Futures Trading: Building a Winning System by Avoiding Psychological Pitfalls (Hardcover)
This book starts out with the history of CME and progresses evenly into the future of electronic trading. Speaks in layman terms, concise and flows smoothly for the non-professional trader. The question and answer section was extremely helpful and interesting. A necessary handbook for anyone looking to become an effective screen trader.

I started trading while in college (my grades suffered along with my trading)and wish I would have taken the time for find a good primer like this one. The most important thing to be gained from this book is a basic understanding of the technicals and an appreciation for knowing yourself. This isn't navel gazing, but solid, no nonsense take a look at yourself and don't try to be a super trader. Be yourself and prosper.

This book provides a great overview of the psychology and technical fundamentals of e-trading. I consider it a "must read". I especially liked the industry insight provided in the interviews with Glenn Susz, Donald Serpico, and Jack Sandner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Self Confidence, January 4, 2001

This review is from: The Art of Electronic Futures Trading: Building a Winning System by Avoiding Psychological Pitfalls (Hardcover)
I have been trading futures for over 5 years and have had very limited success until I read this book by Kaiser and Green. They are the true pioneers in electronic trading, but more important they know what the components are that make up a successful trader. Their combined 50 years experiance in the futures markets only adds to the overall perspective. I highly recommend this book for both the novice and seasoned trader.

I have an advance copy of this book and the pages are allready dog-eared. This insightful book will point out the pitfalls beginning traders face as they enter the futures markets. All in all this book is indispensable.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Art of Electronic Futures Trading, December 5, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Art of Electronic Futures Trading: Building a Winning System by Avoiding Psychological Pitfalls (Hardcover)
This book covers the beginning of electronic trading in the futures industry from the perspective of the authors who first introduced electronic trading to the futures industry. It covers the fears that sweep the futures industry as electronics threatens to close the traditional oupen outcry meathod of trading futures. The interviews with the original developers of the software really puts in persective how far we have come in the past few years. The book also helps you rate your personality and help you decide what system might be right for your psychological profile. With that in mind it is then time to design a system that is right for me. I found the book very informative and made me feel at ease knowing that the system I designed for myself even though not guaranteed to make money, will make me feel comfortable about trading it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than the others, January 16, 2001

This review is from: The Art of Electronic Futures Trading: Building a Winning System by Avoiding Psychological Pitfalls (Hardcover)
I have read them all...Larry williams,Scott Slutsky, etc. and they don't come close to these guys. Their common sense in terms of understanding the basics of analysis and coming to terms with yourself is invaluable. They do traders a favor by asking them to look at yourself and decide whether you are cut out to be a trader and if so what type. If you are not who you think you are then their advice to do something else is a breath of fresh air.

WOW, At first I was a unsuspecting customer of many trading techniques, until I read the Book by William Kaiser and James Green. Now it seems like evrything is falling into place for me. I just wish I could tell the authors Thanks for all that they have done.
